Or a BB90 that wearing out in less than 1000 miles is determined as 'normal wear & tear' by the manufacturer... (I think Trek may have had a bad batch of them as the majority of early wear complaints are Trek and not others).

Nah, pressfit BBs do seem to be plagued with problems.

I can recommend rose whole heartedly for customisation.

Really love my bike, Love how you can swap components right down to what chain, What cassette /crank ratio, Carbon or alloy spacer etc etc.

I made about 6 or 7 changes to my bike from the norm, Includes changing the brakes to Red 22 ones. Very customisable

Rose were good with me - very customisable and easy to deal with. Only a quick run on mine so far but very light, quick and Di2 is a total dream!

Well, finally after 2 weeks of my LBS (Cult Racing) having my bike it sounds as though it's ready for collection tonight.

What should have been a 2 day job (swop all my current groupset to a new frame) has turned into a right effort.
Started with them not starting the job for 4 days after I dropped the bikes off, then they needed to order a front derailuer as my old one was bandon
& the new frame is braize on. My fault on that one, but 1 week later they are still waiting to get one in.

I telephoned them today & gave them a bit of a ********** down the phone, they've now agreed to take one off a new display bike & fit that today so I can collect tonight.

What is it with customer service these days where you have to go into meltdown before people with do there job properly.

Seem to be the case :(

What is the 'best' option for my 5800 & BB90, replace with higher quality bearings/cranks (6800 - Ultegra?) or going a totally different BB route with an adaptor?

I'm all for changing bearings as it's not a huge expense, but if I do decide to change cranks then it'll have to be something I plan a little more!

Edit: That's rubbish Rob! At the very least they should have informed you about what they'd need to do along with the lead times.

Square taper 4lyfe.

I wish there was one standard and that was it. Everything was standard. There is nothing standard about the current setup. Why does it need to be complicated?

Square taper cartridge BB like on my old Trek. Done. Sorted. Or last night I installed a Shimano BB onto an Allez. Took 5 minutes with simple tools. None of this press fitting, bearing pushing malarky.

I think my continental GP 4000's are defective, haven't done that many miles in them I don't think, and I noticed that (hard to explain) but its like somebody has pulled a cord/thread around the whole circumference of my tyres just above the rim, I know pics would help, but it doesn't look right to me

going to replace them just incase

balls, got a new BB! wasn't much at £20 for the official sram one, we'll see if that does another 5k miles I'll be happy! :)

on a different note, my brothers SS's rear axle exploded lol, split in half! 8mile walk home was fun as hell by the looks of his face right now :o

[/SPOILER]

I do like that - which Pro Lite wheelset is it?

Pro Lite A42 Bracciano.
Bought them a few months ago for when I put the new bike together, but got impatient & have been using them for the past couple of months on the old Allez.
When that developed a major frame fault it was time to retire it & build this one.

Not been able to commute on the bike for months now due to family/kids childcare stuff but been taking the bike into work for lunch time blasts and then MTB with the dog when the kids are in bed/a club.

I'm seeing great gains from just that arrangement, Actually better than when I commuted as I actually enjoy the ride without it being about endurance and stamina.

Looking forward to hitting more then 10miles per ride again though and swapping out of these knobbly cyclo tyres! so noisy on roads.

Not a bad run this evening, particularly given that my asthma is killing me just now for the first time in years. I think it's hayfever related. It's a nightmare.

I see Strava are using OpenStreetMap now.

Ah, That explains the constant (sorry) phlegm and tight chest that I have been getting today, I just thought I was pushing hard after swallowing half the trent the day before!

Does it give that burning of your lungs feeling like working out in Winter?

I think I might have developed some sort of hayfever/asthma as never had this before - getting old sucks!

Yeah, that sounds about right.

Mine's been like this since the start of the month, when we had some thunderstorms. Apparently lightning breaks pollen up into really tiny particles so then hayfever can get really bad. Or it's to do with ozone or something. That and the pollen count has been high for weeks on end.

I've noticed the little pollen notification on my weather app has been there for a few weeks, it only pops up if its anything to be concerned about.

It's supposed to die down over the weekend and into next week if thats any conciliation.

Hopefully you'll have a few days riding without any problems now eh!
