Haven't actually had a go on it yet - will ride it into work tomorrow and let you know. All looks fine though, thanks.

Funny about the jagwire stuff, wonder why that would be? Didn't think they were particularly different.

Only knew to try it as I've had it once before on a bike that felt so bad too.

Jagwire, with the cable tension required to shift up good wouldn't drop smoothly. Tension off to let it drop smoothly meant it was two clicks up.

The front gears were the same, tension enough to hold it clear of the top ring meant the trim did nothing. Soon as I put the shimano in the trim was absolutely fine.

Who knows but what a lovely day for cycling today! (not) Dominos for me

Just chilling in hotel room after getting back from Ridelondon, my first ever sportive and furthest I've cycled in a single sitting! 101.2 miles in 5 hours 56mins! Not too shabby I don't think for a 22 stone behemoth! I genuinely surprised myself at times how powerful I was, dropping it down a couple of gears, getting out of the saddle and launching the bike! Needless to say I'm buzzing, a great way to celebrate 8.5 stone weight loss and I raised over £800 for breast cancer care too!!

Good speed that. Well done.

Nice one - I might have seen you fly by in Kingston. Think I'll have to enter the ballot for next year.

It's by ballot, they open it up and you register then a couple of months later they randomly choose who gets a place.

I've got a Scott Speedster; http://www.evanscycles.com/products/scott/speedster-30-compact-2014-road-bike-ec054452 - XXL frame though.

The rub appears to only be on one side, the right as you look from the front of the bike :(
Sorry to dig this up again but I'm not taking my wheel in till Tuesday and I thought I'd air one more observation...

Looking at the rim info, the spec mentions a variation in profile size; "Syncros Race 27 Aero Profile 20 Front / 24 Rear" - would that possibly explain the issues I'm having with the lack of space at the top of my front forks with my new tyres? Also, is there anything wrong with having say a 25 on the back and a 23 on the front

Bike is running great. Actually quite strange having gears that change when i press the shifter every time! :)

If you can just sort out the weather and punctures now please...

Keep in mind that the average also includes times that you're spinning up so even if you're spinning at above 90 most of the time your mean average will be lower than that.

balls... so no guaranteed place!

Yup, rubbish! Didn't get in this year (first time applying though), but popped along on Saturday to see the womens elite crit in St. James's park, even got on TV during a few of the shots

No free time on Sunday to see the London-Surrey Classic though :(

which is to say, no, it won't be the cause of your issues (well, unless you're heavy - that's quite a low spoke count!).
16st :)

I'm having a bit of a weigh up atm, coming up with options.

Option 1 is to pay to get the wheel fix, if it is indeed buckled.

Option 2, get some 23 tyres :D

Or Option 3, keep the 25's and just get some new wheels?

New wheels would be the costliest option obviously but wouldn't it also be the safest bet? What to do...

As someone who's just slightly lighter I'd go for a higher spoke count, as with 25 spokes it wouldn't surprise me if it started to go out of true rather quickly.

Might be worth getting a decent hand built 32 spoke for around £130-140 which will last.

Again, it is just funny how some people go from having a completely fine day to insta-mega-rage when they see a cyclist.

Road rage in the UK is insane and worse than almost anywhere in Europe. Never really understood why...

Went for the Defy guards in the end, couldnt be bothered looking aorund anymore so im just gonna try them, they might be okay on the Defy 3, time will tell.

I heard on Saturday that the boss from my LBS went to a Giant talk on their 2016 ranges and they will be doing a new set of guards for the Defy range. I'm half tempted to wait...

After fitting them and riding a bit check your frame over. I had some badly damaged paintwork from them I wish i'd done something about sooner!

as far as chassing him down etc goes yeah, I don't see the point of it! I will have a few words with a driver if I catch up with him in the traffic later on but I don't chase after people.

both were asking for trouble but the driver was just a dribbling fatsob that totally has no idea of highway code or basics of driving

I totally disagree with the chase and blame side of it. Cyclist was lucky really! Although that guy needs a long talk with the police about his attitude and lack of highway code knowledge!
