Ugh..despite early night I'm still really not feeling it. Just ate a huge breakfast and now to shower before getting a train to Crewe. 111 miles from there to Cheltenham...and then back the same way tomorrow. Woo :s

Good luck, if it's as miserable up there as it is down here it won't be much fun.

Totally cheating :p If I woke up feeling like I did and had 2 x 150 miles ahead of me instead I'd have just stayed in bed :p

Weather is surprisingly okay so far but I've got the whole day for it to get much worse....

Another question as I close in on my attempt at a chinese carbon build. Bottom Brackets this time...

BSA vs BB30; I've done some reading but like most things bike related opinion seems to differ greatly depending on the source. The gist I'm getting is BSA is the more common option but BB30 can provide a stiffer ride?

I intend to use this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-105-5800-groupset/, would that fit with the BSA bottom bracket and if I went for BB30 would it require an adapter, if so which one?

Cheers again!

BB30 is sold on the basis that it's stiffer, and by pure coincidence it allows manufacturers to make frames to lower tolerances than BSA. Fancy that. BB30 and all other press fit standards are also prone to creaking.

If it were me, I'd be going for BSA, which is tried and true. I doubt the stiffness angle would make any difference to my riding anyway, I'm not good enough.

'that was a great ride, it would've been even better if only my bottom bracket were a bit stiffer' said no one, ever

That's why I bought the Wheels Manufacturing BB86. It has a threaded sleeve that locks both sides of the pressfit shells together which helps to prevent creaking.

Conversely, I'm sure many have said "That was a great ride, it would've been even better if only my press fit bottom bracket hadn't creaked with every stroke."

On the topic of deep carbon aero rims. Spotted these yesterday on Wiggle but they were out of stock. Set an e-mail stock notification... which came through this morning.

Remind me why I don't need these please? Only one in stock so hopefully someone else will buy them before I can...

Does anybody have any experience with the Fizik R3 Uomo? I was pretty much set on getting the R5B but feel like the R3 uomo, although an older shoe, might be the better of the two? From what i can tell, the R3 is stiffer, full carbon bottoms, better breathability and also lighter. It also happens that its £20 cheaper than the R5B at the moment too in my size.

Thoughts?

But who was Boa Dials? :p

Slight panic with my sportive ride coming up... neither pair of my summer bibs are particularly comfortable.

What can I get for up to £50 notes? For perspective my other ones are a pair of Dare2B shorts and a pair of On One £10 specials from the sale :o

I'd happily do 100 miles in my Boardman bib tights from a comfort point of view but they are way too warm for June.

After a few years away from cycling I recently bought a fixie to see if I could get the bug back, anyway been round a few bike shops this morning and ended up ordering a new Caad12 Ultegra. Got a week and a half now to find some nice new shoes to match it.

This is a really nice bike!
I did 250 miles on one last weekend. Wasn't my bike so it was an unfamiliar saddle and not quite set up to the correct geometry for me (but very close) and I was still comfortable on it by the end.

Gents I'm in a bit of a predicament..

Currently I've got a Planet X London Road (hydraulic version).

Love it to bits, very comfy, takes the abuse and I've not had it that long.

Currently have 37mm tyres on it so I'm looking to knock down to 28mm now the summer weather is arriving.

Tempted to grab a pair of Fulcrum Racing Disc wheels and for summer and keep the standard WTB ST i19 wheels for winter with the 37s on.

Is it worth doing this or just whack a set of 28s on the standard rims?

Also what tyres are people currently recommending for all round summer use?

Deep down I want to grab a summer carbon bike but this is the cheaper option for now!!
