Road Cycling

Are we joking about it yet? Or is it too soon? :D
Until he's posting pics of his injuries/bike damage it's a little too soon! ;)
Ha Roady, I've decided against that one, as I can't be arsed with disks. I have spare wheels here, which I want to use on the bike and it was supposed to be a cheap put together. I think I'll look at the ribble frames.
Look at the Mango frames too, I was looking at the Point AR when going the cheap self built commuter route but they do even cheaper non-disc frames.

Another interesting alternative I considered, could be something like the Kinesis 4S Disc, it has disc mount points AND mount points for rim brakes so you could switch between them at some point. Although not exactly a 'cheap commuting' frameset, flexibility might be worth paying for...? :)
The few friends I ride MTB with seem to slow down on the climbs though... that's where I have a bit of fun and accelerate at stupid cadence.
Mwhaha! I do this even to my road riding mates (who all seem to ride at a lower cadence than me). :D

Ahaha. Not sure I'd go as far as suggesting that :p

You tend to just sit and spin on a MTB when it gets proper steep - takes bloody forever but you get up anything. I'm finding the easiest gear on the Road Bike harder than the easiest gear on the MTB.

I think my legs are tuned into high cadence climbing.

fracture is 4-6 weeks...break is longer apparently...need to find out more tomorrow as they were not very forthcoming with info

So how did you get back? Did you call an ambulance from where you were? Or did you cycle back one handed with your bad arm across your chest like a pro?

I don't find that

lol but I'm a fat ******* so... :p

Aha. Well that looks more hilly than my typical Swinley Forest ride!

Me and a mate had a cadence race up a slight bump the other weekend. No cadence sensor on my bike but he hit 160rpm and my legs were flying all over the place. That certainly got the heart rate up.

What do you have on the rear? 11-28? You could get a larger cassette.

Think my legs are similar as I generally spin at 95-100rpm and if a climb limits me to 70-80 in the lowest gear it gets really tough.

Probably because you don't have your precious triple/tiny front rings to help ;)

Or he could just MTFU and develop some powwwwaah :p

Anyone any ideas on Zonda rear wheel servicing / inspection?

A bit disappointed it seems to have gone bad so early really considering I've only used them for about 7 months and pretty rarely in the rain.

Sounds rough even while spinning in hand with no freehub/cassette movement so guessing it's bearings inside.. Hopefully just needs regrease but no idea where to start with taking it apart.

11-30. Just need to get conditioned to it, I'll be riding through the autumn so I'll improve in time. I'll be interested to see if the road bike is going to make me faster when I switch back to the MTB 4 the winter.

If I have made a mistake buying the Maddison Flux saddle (it's super comfy but there's stitching where a roadie doesn't want stitching to be) and I up my budget to say £50.......what's my options? Soft to medium please, I can't live with hard saddles - the stock (rock hard) one gave me shooting pains in regions I never knew I had.

I recall you like the charge spoon, why don't you get another one?

Edit: Just realised the flux is a spoon

Same as me really, once I'm pushing hard climbing and my RPM drops below 80rpm I tend to stand. Although more recently on my '30% Challenge' I've found dropping down to 50/60rpm and standing early really aids with my pacing providing I keep the rpm down and my efforts constant. Weirdly if it eases and my rpm increases, I increase the power rather than changing up to keep it constant, which can lead to me blowing up! :o:rolleyes:

Very easy to take apart, I followed a generic guide for many Campags when I took apart my Khamsin's. The bearings are cartridges so if it's feeling rough I very much doubt it just needs grease. Especially if hardly ridden in the rain! :(

Although filtering docs by Zonda the only mention of the rear hub is cup&cone bearings...
The amount my Mrs makes / my Lycra stretches, I believe so.
Perfect excuse! Ride more mountains, to eat more cakes, to keep her happy! ;)
EDIT: Thought you might appreciate my jersey today:

Another day, another impatient twerp close passing and swearing when I shake my head at him... All because I had the nerve to get into the right hand lane to... um... turn right.
