Road Cycling

None really. I've just become quite lazy! Although, my girlfriend has joined the gym with me (Shock horror the gym in road cycling!). That and the turbo (the other thread I know :p) will help me.
Do it, DO IT! Just think of the gainz! (that's enough gym talk from me & all I know!) ;)
Hey! I have feelings too :(
Liar :p
Women. They achieve spectacular things sometimes.

So I've planned a ride with a friend in May to build up to after my knee surgery which is in the first week of January.

Cambridge > Edinburgh. Should be interesting.

£11.93 (*12) Clif bars arrived. Expiry is July 2017. Result! LBS sells them at 'cost' to club riders and that's £1.20. Seeing Wiggle selling them at 99p I stocked up! :D ;)

You know it's uphill going North right? ;)

Huge target to aim for! Goodluck!

I was deadlifting like a beast in the gym at lunch time and had some HIMSA blasting in my ears (some scarey metal band that makes you lift 10KG more just because METAL) when, suddenly, some Britney Spears started playing.... "What in the name of F"...... Put some HIMSA back on and then 5 seconds later some Fiddy Cent comes on which swiftly skips to Justin Beeber.

I thought my phone had basically become Casper the friendly Android device. Until realisation dawned:
The woman in my life who I kindly shared my Spotify account with realised she can cast music to my phones Spotify via hers whilst I am listening to it. She thinks it is ******* hilarious and this is my story of what women are capable of.

If anyone ever discovers an energy bar that doesn't taste like the inside of a badger then feel free to let me know.

Till then I'll stick to bananas/jelly babies/traditional cereal bars etc.

CNP Cherry Almond or PHD Peanut Butter/Berry protein flapjacks. Both oat based, both taste great, both contain double the protein and similar carbs & fats as Clif bars and they're cheaper too. 50-85p each.

And also available from DF, the bay and CNP direct with a BC discount code but DF are still cheaper ;)

Free delivery for when there aren't offers on.
Good shout, thanks. Think I'll have enough now as I only really used them for long charity/sportive rides before (handful a year) & I now have 21 (ate one today to 'test' of course)! ;)

I struggled with loads of things I'd tried until I'd pretty much settled on standard mueli/cereal/breakfast type bars. Any of the cycling orientated stuff just didn't agree with me. I can only stomach Clif bars & High5 gels and occasionally even get an issue from them. Tried SiS & CNP. Not really tried many 'energy' specific bars but happy with clif/standard.
Nice. 24 hours right?
Naaah 12h, just to make your Leeds/Sheffield to London seen slow! ;)

Anyone noticed multi-quoting is broken today? Has slowed me down a little! Could just be my browser/PC today... ;)

He has issue for anyone riding anything more than single speed steel frames with leather saddles and cotton clothing.

He's also a highlander. He doesn't ride wearing a kilt so is a contradiction to everything he stands for

Single speed?? Isn't that a hipster kinda thing?

High5 ones are ok but they're dry as a bone and denser than a neutron star.

Scots, anywhere worth riding from Glasgow city centre?

Up there soon and might consider renting a bike if there are any good shops for that.

Depends where you're staying exactly but close to the city would be heading North and going over the crow road, can do a loop back round and over the tak ma doon road whichis harder south to north to be fair.

Once over that way you have access to the dukes pass, via top of the world(another climb).

Heading west you can get to Balloch/Loch Lomond but it's pretty much city all the way, there is a cycle path all the way if you hired a hybrid or something.

Head south on the A77 and you also gain access to pretty awesome back roads you can get lost on. I particularly like heading to Stewarton and over the Eaglesham moor road.

Unless you've been already then hopefully you haven't been shot dead in your car or murdered with a steel bar outside your house.

Love these! Think I ate about 14 when I was in Majorca.

Yep, they're tasty AF. Great as oaty but the marzipan flavour means it's a bit of a sweet kick as well :) CNP do have periodic crash sales and BC get's 30% off year round but even still DF or other e-tailers are cheaper than direct usually.

High5 ones are ok but they're dry as a bone and denser than a neutron star.

Just compare any other cereal/nut/energy based bar with similar macro's. Nothing special about cycling manufacturer produced bars other than the branding :)

My wife (diabetic so she knows carbs like a pro) reckons just digestive biscuits is all you need - each one is a slug of slow burn carbs, nibble plenty before and during.

Cheap a.f too!

Please post this in the gym rats thread...
