Road Cycling

If you stop the course, then reload it you also get a 'Navigate to Start?'. I do on my 810 anyway, seem to get it whenever I load a route and I'm not at the exact start location, if I'm somewhere along the route it seems to follow the route back.

Mostly unrelated - now my 810 is utterly b0rked and won't BT sync without crashing I've had BT turned off on my Samsung S5. Battery life is now phenominal, I would struggle to get 20 hours out of a charge before, and would regularly be at 50/60% by lunchtime (6.5 hours since charge). Now I'm over 80% and a charge lasts me all day with 30-40% charge remaining. Me switching to the ELEMNT with it's 'Direct Wi-fi sync' (once setup) will mean I can continue with BT disabled on my S5. Winning! ;) :D

ELEMNT owners: anyone use the Wi-fi sync? Is there a limit to how many Wi-fi networks it 'remembers'?

New bike day for me tomorrow :) :) :) :)

My Boardman was stolen about a month ago. Amazingly Tesco covered it, and paid up pretty quickly. Wheelies, who I initially had to deal with, even valued my bike almost £2k more than I did! So I upgraded ;)

This is the special edition paint too, which changes colour at 22C (not that it'll be doing that for a while!).
The forecast is really good too so I'm tempted to have a blast on it at the weekend.

I wasn't too sure about the deep section wheels, but my stolen bike was an aero bike with 58/72 wheels. I was looking at getting the Venge, but decided it was a bit too aggressive for me. So I went with the CLX64s to satisfy my aero ego ;)

Beautiful! Tarmac eTap? Extra beautiful/special in the 'Torch' paint! :D

Result with Wheelies' value too! I wasn't aware they did a non-S Works with eTap, or was it just the Torch frameset built up to your spec (think that's only branded Specialized for some reason)?

With that value (isn't the frame alone £2800?) remind me again why you didn't go for the Venge ViAS? And just learn to live with the aggressive position... ;)

Venge Di2 too...

EDIT: Paul. Crux here for <£1000. TRP hydra

It's not the S-Works eTap - although it is an S-Works frame, and it has eTap!

Because it was to do with the olympics, they weren't allowed to brand it 'S-Works' (for reasons I'm not entirely sure of), but it is a full S-Works frame.

I decided against the Vias for a couple of reasons. Firstly I didnt want to disc version, and I've read mixed reviews about the performance of the rim brakes on the Vias, due to their unique design and position. They also look incredibly fiddly to setup and maintain. I do like the look sof the Venge though, I know it's a bike that divides opinion, but I like that about it too. But in the end, I went for the Tarmac as it's a much better 'all rounder'. The Venge came with the same wheelset, so I cant be loosing too much by going with the Tarmac build as opposed to the Venge.

I want to do a lot more 100 mile + rides too next year, and I felt the Tarmac would be the more 'comfortable' bike to do those on.

If you can relate to cars, the Venge is a Lotus Exige S. Super racy, super quick but very raw. The Tarmac is the Evora, still super quick, but a bit more comfortable and a better tourer. I've owned the Exige S, so I know how raw and uncomfortable they can be!

Shadowness lol at running 58/72 depth wheels not racing you beast.

What is that stand? Looks much more sturdy than my Shimano pro one.

Ah, that explains things! Seems really strange they couldn't brand as S-Works as they sell under that brand and the way Spesh are with brand names I'll bet they've got it fully trademarked! If anything it deserves the S-Works branding as it's extra special paint! ;)

Good info and sounds like you did your research! The Venge is a thoroughbred race/speed machine so you're right about the Tarmac being the best 'all-rounder', although it's still a very successful race machine in it's own right so certainly no slouch! Certainly for some of the riding you'll be doing around Gloucestershire it's the better choice. Might bump into you somewhere (I'm only in Hereford)! :)

The Tarmac is such a clean and classicly proportioned looking bike, I bet the UCI creamed themselves the first time they saw it! ;)
Alu, but thanks very much :(
Damn, did they not do some of them as carbon? Remember a new one in my LBS for £3000 not long ago!

Will keep looking...

I'd love to get into racing, but I travel overseas too much as part of my job that I couldn't get into any sort of training regime, or I'd miss most races etc.

Not sure what the stand is too btw

I quick like the fact it's not S-works though, you kind of have to know about it to 'get it', if you know what I mean.

I was changing my mind so many times, yes the Venge is a super fast bike, but the Tarmac has a pretty good reputation too! Even Sagan rides a Tarmac with the same 64 wheels a lot of the time.

Well if you see a bright orange bike, give me a wave! I come over you way a fair bit, but you wont be seeing this bike until Spring!!

This sounds like an excuse to me :D Should do one and bet you'll come out the other side doing more, even if it is only TTs which you can just rock up to.

To be honest, from hearing what some of the guys in the club say about racing, you spend most of the time avoiding crashes!

I'd prefer to get into TTs to be honest. Overtaking super expensive TT bikes on a normal roadie FTW ;)

Only the fat blokes unless you got some proper power :P Besides if you turned up on that not exactly a normal roadie compared to most gear being used in local club events :D This is also why I love CX as you don't need to have oodles of power and your skills make up a chunk of time, also if you fall off it doesn't hurt, or cost a lot :D

Fearing death every 3.2 seconds in the bunch at 35mph is where it's at.
Being a baw hair away from a wipeout is what makes it fun.

^LOL I bet!!

Does anyone use any bike specific insurance? I think I was incredibly lucky that Tesco came through on my previous claim, but I'm not leaving the next time to luck!

For a bike of this value, most insurance sites are coming out at 450-600 a year (that's more than my car!!)

Just wondered if anyone can recommend anyone?
