Road Cycling

Halfords snobbery is boring... they do sell some good bikes, that's just a fact. They also sell some right old tat and have some ropey staff. Twas ever this with big franchises. If it bothers you that much you can always go to Evans.

No snobbery on my part as I used to own a Boardman (admittedly it wasnt a model you could buy at Halfords though!)

Totally agree.

Some of those new Boardmans look great, plus the new Boardman paint jobs look really nice too.

See the top tube on this ELITE AERO Boardman thing... It does make me want to remove my own eyeballs.
^waspstinger - Not even funny. Stop it! Bendy top tube and discs. And that BOARDMAN logo.
Fire required.

Everyone seems to be arguing the same thing: boardman bikes are good - just don't let halfords build it for you!

You do get good Halfords mechanics, the ones in my dept are good...won't say anything else lol

"you are more than irksome with your manner stinger of hornets. "

I've given facts that Halfords (and/or) it's partners do sell the Elite bicycles. Sorry if that bother you that a high street store sells (or can aquire) £6000 bikes.

Quite like the look of them, do the 'clamps' holding the guards (end of the stays) hold things secure? Are they made to 'release' the guard should something get stuck in it/the wheel?

As for the presta thing, it was my understanding the clamping of the pump on the end pressed the valve in, not the pressure itself? The 3 track/floor pumps I have all clamp on using a lever. My best portable pump screws on the end and you can feel the pressure is held in the pumps 'tube' (which is also used for co2 inflation), only my older portable (Crank Brothers Gem) presses onto a presta value without a screw/clamp and might be reliant on pressure, which might also explain how awkward it is to use.

bought the Radials a bit on basis of this review & £17.50
no release guard, the clip seems well made, but went for rigid aluminium as need to cut n' shut them with some thin stainless shims through the 3mm fork clearance.

pumps: had another look at the top peak blaster - realised can buy a rubbers replacement kit and that lever is counter-inuitively out/perpendicular to body to supposedly try and push presta pin in - although it never worked for me - I just free/blip the valve before trying to engage pump (to blow out dirt too)

If anyone else was trying to catch-up tv on Guy Martin
The North Lincolnshire motorcycle racer set out on his most brutal challenge yet for the programme - to cycle 4,800 miles around the entire coast of Britain in only 20 days had not realised C4 must have canned it - since it was not PC with their xmas message ? that wasn't it for xmas tv.
