Road Cycling

Once mine arrives I may stitch both onto my finest Rapha jersey. What do you guys reckon? :D
Like this? ;):D
Mines tucked up in my cycling themed downstairs loo, along with other cycling related trinkets :D
You mean, mostly mud from all the CX'ing and hand scribbled times on the back of fag packets from TT'ing? ;)
Very similar to the one I got from Halfords many moons back for a few quid. Which my old 14kg hybrid pulled out of the wall after a few months of hanging there... Was just mounted into breeze block though.

I picked up 3 of these basic hooks in the PX sale for £2 each, I'm not mounting bikes from them (just wheels/tubes/tyres) so more than strong enough. PS also do one similar to the ones linked from the rainforest for a fiver, have seen them sold in sales cheaper than the rainfoest ones.
Well that was soggy! Remembered to pack spare bibs, just not socks for the ride home! Hopefully drying room at work will actually work wonders.

Loving the Camo paintwork on the new Cervelo R5 that's been spied.
I got soaked 5 times on tuesday (4 cycling), was not amused! Only minor drizzle yesterday (felt really mild) early morning (had to be at work for 7) but didn't do any other commuting. Also drove today as left some of my cycling kit at work (and 40mph winds forecast today).

Got a linky to the Cervelo? :o
I'm going to take that top spot off you then Roady... :p
Bring it mr 6 minute! :p

I'm only 1 minute 2 seconds down on the segment KOM.

Also noted 2 on the live leaderboard were not using smart trainers sooooo technically I was second? ;)

Has anyone here done a tubeless conversion and noticed an appreciable difference to the ride afterwards?

I don't tend to get many punctures these days since the swap to Pro4E's but I am intrigued with tubeless anyway.

Right spending must stop!!!!:p:p

Fulcrum Quattro Carbon full carbon 40mm clinchers!!

2nd hand from a Madison rep. Less that 100 miles on them. He's destickered them as well for a cleaner look. Even threw in pads and wheel bags!!

I have seriously considered it as I ran tubeless on mtb for years. Down side I see for road bike is the sheer limited number of tubeless tyres and the cost of them. Only company really is Schwalbe that are bothering with tubeless tyres.

Also limited rims etc.

Lots more tubeless options when you're looking at 30mm and larger tyres. The more modern trend for wider rims is quite often linked with tubeless compatibility.

Of course if you're looking at deeper/aero and more race orientated rims they're more likely narrower than 17mm internal and less likely to be tubeless compatible.

My Diverge came with AXIS 4 rims, not listed as tubeless compatible but reading online lots of people have converted them with new rim tape! I'm guessing because the majority of the American guys hammering trails with them are going as wide/big as possible and tubeless just seems more accepted to the gravel/CX frame interested riders, many of which also ride MTB.

Back on the bike for the first time in nearly two weeks. Rubbish. First the weather was rubbish and then I was ill for over a week. Then I get back on today and it's horribly windy! And it's meant to get cold again next week. Come on, weather, sort yourself out.

Need to change my cassette and currently running a Shimano HG50 9 speed.

Am I right in thinking I can replace this with an SRAM 9 speed cassette?

And what chain does everyone recommend as being the best for value/budget. 9 speed again.

SRAM & Shimano cassettes are comptable on the same hub. I prefer KMC chains. Since you're changing the cassette check chain wear.

Agreed, but admittedly I do like my SRAM chains more than KMC...! ;)

The couple of Claris/Sora groupset bikes I've owned (or the other half has) they've generally come as Shimano part groupsets with SRAM cassettes.

Wind has picked up here as the day/afternoon has worn on. It's remained 'warm' and mostly dry though. Earlier this week was really warm, but windy and wet. It was difficult to recall how to dress for such conditions and felt strange to leave the thick thermal softshells in the wardrobe (replaced with a rain hardshell/jacket)!

My Gabba2 has arrived (which is a miracle in itself judging by Cycle Surgery's online review scores).

What sort of temp range do people find with the Gabba2 with and without base a base layer?

Went out to do 'The Douglas' but on the way out, a total slog, I decided I didn't have the legs for the headwind out to gain the tailwind back.

Stuck to proper back roads and just floated about, meant a low average speed but the same climbing for 41 miles as I'd have had for the 55ish miles.

Feeling a bit gubbed but I only started trying to get fitter a few weeks back.

Ordered :)

That was definitely in my top 5 worst commutes back home. Not cold, not wet.....just ****** super windy! I HATE wind, and my commute home is straight into the prevailing headwind.

Might drive tomorrow, save strength for the weekend!

I rode to work this morning, was a bit windy then proper gusty on some higher exposed bits, then closer to the city there came some shelter again from the wind in the form of high rise offices.

6c but I risked just the gabba2 and a base layer - was absolutely fine, quite nice not having to wear a full on jacket. Also picked up a cheap Castelli head thingy - bit weird having something snug around my throat but actually you soon get used to it - seemed to get some decent protection from cold ears cold face cold head etc and it stayed in place too.

I just need to get shot of some winter timber now - probably got 1.5kilos on me since Xmas, 1 month left till first ever Sportive so I just need to stop eating f'in biscuits and stealing the kids chocolates and it should drop off.

Fitted my PWM last night and commuted this morning for the first time with power. Very easy ride (with the other half who's really tired as not been sleeping well), still quite interesting! :D

EDIT: Things like this, pulling away from stationary, yet pushing a little harder to see what a strong pedal stroke shows as. 500W+! :o

Slight annoyance with my Front derailleur alignment causing a chain 'click' in the large chainring (I'll sort later/tomorrow) but otherwise fitting was a doddle! 9nM torque on the mounts to crank spider does sound quite low though... The manual is worded in such a way it sounds like 'at least 9nm' but I'm going to check that before tightening them.

Did another clean on my front disc which is back to making noise whenever it gets wet. I grabbed a video of it tuesday evening, this is without braking, just spinning the front wheel.
https://youtu.be/zOQOdLu6N2A

When looking through the top of the brake (with a light source below) I cannot see distance between the pad and the disc, at the rear I can see a thin amount of clearance. It's the same both slides, which make me think pad/mount alignment is not the issue. Do I need to bleed it instead? Brake lever does feel slightly spongey, but that could just be me looking for that feeling. This front disc has always made a small amount of noise, just it's been getting slowly worse during wet weather. These noises are in addition to the 'HOOOOOOOOONNNNNNK' when braking hard in the wet.

All good mileage considering the conditions out there! :)
Or click the free delivery button and 3 for £1?
I was convinced that clicking it would remove my -£5 so I didn't! ;)

Link/info from Andy Turner's twitter, they're one of his new sponsors for 2017. Lucky git! ;)
