Road Cycling

It could be wear if the teeth aren't picking it up well, but it depends on the mileage. I guess with it being second hand you can't be sure.

Not sure on what new rings to suggest, maybe someone else can advise...

Good ride with Richie last night, around 18 miles of gusty headwind, 7 miles of block headwind with the remaining 5 miles 'lesser' headwinds (certainly no tailwind) and probably the closest 'close pass' I've seen this year. My video footage of it is perfect and the driver has no excuse (open, straight road with other cars having no problem giving us loads of room). I probably get 1-2 close passes per week and think nothing of it (usually not as high speed and drivers 'taking a chance' to overtake when it's not clear), this one was clearly intentional, loads closer/faster and I'm 75% convinced I'm reporting it. Emailing local plod today to see if they want it before I put the footage on YouTube.

Theyre very comfy actually, RC7s seem to go nicely, just need to wear them in. Good power transfer,
Sweet! I was always hoping to pickup a pair of R171's and they were never within the relatively low budget I had for a 3rd pair of shoes... Although if I was getting more shoes I would probably go the S-Works route or some more Giro - as the cheap 'Treble II' I use for commuting are fantastically comfortable. For £50 shoes they give my amazingly comfortable £170 Sidi's a run for their money... :o

Popped my imperial cherry with something similar last year and haven't ridden 100m since yet thinking about it! Weather looking fab this weekend, temptation...rising...
Very tempting with the 27/28 degree forecast here too! I'm quite high mileage this week already (due to a longer turbo session than usual), having to miss the group/club rides tomorrow does open up some opportunity for a solo effort at something. I could go do the tumble but 60 miles and a huge climb is probably a stupid idea, especially how poor my climbing is currently. Ho-hum!

I'd choose the Fulcrum's. Very well reviewed and well regarded wheelset. Like you say, the 3T is more of an unknown!

3T's are quite heavy for the money, nice and wide at 25mm - good for 25 or ideally 28mm wide tyres. A little more of a do it all wheelset and better if heading off road (due to width), but with low spoke count they're not really aimed as a CX wheelset.

Quattro LG are a little lighter, a little deeper but not as wide (23mm). Probably slightly quicker (aero) & road orientated than the 3T.

Is it not jumping up correctly a sign its due a change?

When I was trying to change up it felt like there was plenty of pressure on the chain against the side of the larger ring but it was just grinding against it rather than jumping up.
Sounds more like limit screws/derailleur tweak than anything else. Are you able to grab some pictures? Basically looking at the chainring teeth we can advise how worn they're looking. Chainring teeth profiles are a bit of an untidy mess even when new (to aid shifting) but as they wear their shapes will start to look more 'shark tooth' as they get thinner. When they're worn and thin (they'll all generally wear at a similar rate) the chain can drop off some of them as they had a smaller profile than others when new.

How does one go about identifying the correct headset on a bike? I've emailed Rose but not had a response back. I have a feeling it's some kind of FSA Orbit but I have no idea about all the standards and sizes.

Basically, I've had a bike fit and I need to lower my stack by 20mm. I could fit a very negative stem but it looks a bit silly and would rather get the stem lowered by swapping that huge conical spacer to a low profile or zero stack one.

Last resort I'll just take it to a bike shop I guess.

You're right, a more negative stem would look silly - it's already fairly extreme! Is there no branding on it or numbering? I'm assuming it came with the bike from new? Ideally you need to just find a top cap the right size...

You may find yourself buying a complete headset, if you could measure it then you could match dimensions against something like this from Hope. Spacers themselves are obviously easy/cheap in comparison.

Guys I'm having alittle trouble shifting back up to my larger chain ring. Im running a 50/34t up front and no idea in the rear.

I had my bike serviced in the autumn last year and they replaced the chain but mentioned my front rings needed replacing soon.

Is it not jumping up correctly a sign its due a change?

I currently have fsa super road 110 bcd rings up front.

Any suggestions on what I should go with next?

Do you have in-line barrel adjusters to increase chain tension?

Shifting under load at the front isn't ideal so ease up when trying to jump up to the big ring for a bit.

For just under £120 I definitely can't complain!

There's a kinda good looking girl on an even better looking bike (Bianchi!) I've encountered a couple of times when commuting, usually coming the other way on a cycle path and we'd progressed all the way from nod to 'hi'. Saw her riding the other way this morning before catching up with her on the road on my way back at lunch. Several cars around so hung back for a while (nice easy pace rather than my usual lunchtime hammering it!), when it was quieter had a quick natter (about the weather of course!) before riding on (will admit to nailing it slightly). Seems very pleasant and even shouted 'have a great afternoon' after me. 10/10. Would ride with again. Although was slightly mesmerised by a castelli logo & her low cadence for a few seconds xD

Roady foaming at the mouth whilst fixated on the 4/10's booty, as he instantly upgrades her to a 10/10, as she's:
A) on a bike. +1
B) it's a Bianchi. +2
C) Is wearing Castelli. +3

tldr summary - Girl who looked like a horse rides a bike but because she is wearing Castelli and riding a Bianchi, she may as well be Claudia Schiffer in her prime :D :D

If she was wearing Rapha she could have been an 11/10.

Was also friendly & blonde: +1
Although cadence was too slow for a serious rider: -1

Is it too stalkerish if I've changed my VIRB from ECO mode to HD incase I meet her for the 3rd time today in an attempt to recognise if I know her from clubs/socials?

Have several females along on our social saturday rides but none of them ride Bianchi's that I~ recall.

EDIT: Have a good weekend all! Remember the suncream! :D:cool:

Ok took it to Decathlon and got them to have a go adjusting it. Not tested it but i imagine its helped.

Here is a pic of my front rings and a photo of the jockey wheels that looks abit worse for wear.

From looking at the specs of the bike thats the same type of front rings they come with so im guessing they maybe all original.

Im pretty sue I have Ultegra SL derailleurs, brakes and shifters so would a new ultegra chainset play nice with the front derailleur?

Also does anyone know what jockey wheels i need to order?

None of them look particularly worn to me. Chainrings are slightly but not at the replace stage in my eyes.

Jockey wheels still have the shaping to the teeth on the lower one so again I'd not change unless they had loads of side to side play, which is usually after the teeth are worn.

I'd look more at cable tension, high screw, play in the bottom bracket or a bend in the front mech/too high/set squint.
