Road Cycling

To be honest I don't find any issue with dirty mountain bike shoes and SPDs :p

Though I plan to get a pair of road shoes and Look pedals at some point this year!

I've ridden 3500 miles this year. For comparison I did 3900 last year, so I'm quite a way ahead! I reckon I should hit 6000 this year, maybe even 7000.

Bah, the TrainingPeaks 'grace period' is over and all functionality including the PMC has disappeared less I pay the ransom and join the subscription service :p

I did install GoldenCheetah a week or two ago and whilst I found the amount of metrics available overwhelming I can see it's use but nothing automatically syncs...what's more is that I can access TP through a browser or the IOS App which makes it quite convenient. The seamless integration with MyFitnessPal for the nutrition side of things is handy and convenient to have that data on the dashboard too.

British Cycling makes the Athelete Addition about £75 for the year, so little over £6pm. I'm not sure if Strava Premium has MFP integration too? I know that it has a 'Freshness' chart, what they call the PMC.

TL: DR, GoldenCheetah is free but a PITA to manually upload to and not accessible when not at home.

I'll activate my 60 day free trial of Premium and see what that offers... The ability (and ease) to plan future training sessions and see the effect on the PMC on TrainingPeaks is particularly attractive.

And to throw another in to the mix:

yuck - 3 weeks off the bike including 2 week all inclusive cruise and back on it Sunday. Felt like i'd never ridden a bike!
Don't say that! I'm going to be at <36 miles in 12 days, before I ride this saturday... New bike will be 9 days old and hasn't even done 10 miles! :o:(:(

Utterly utterly convinced I'm going to lose a huge amount of fitness and really struggle!:eek:
Beautiful souplesse it was not.
Lol'd! You need a cadence sensor on there! ;)

You may as well go for SPD-SL as there'll be tons of spare pedals and cleats around here! (I've got some pedals going spare in a week or so, along with 1 ok set of yellow cleats).

Thinking about it, anyone SPD-SL and want some free cleats? I'll have 3 sets spare shortly but only 1 of them is sellable. So if anyone wants 1 set of badly chewed blues (too many hill walks) & 1 set of passable yellows (mostly commuting wear) then let me know.

I fell in a thorn bush this morning before I'd even set off. Clipped in left foot, went to set off, realised I hadn't done my helmet up, went to put left foot down, forgot I was clipped in, couldn't get my foot twisted out, before you know it, I'm in a thorn bush with a bike on top of me.

That was nice

spoke snap! brilliant.

anyone knows what length spokes are on fulcrum racing sport disc? rear wheel, drive side.

can't find info anywhere! :| even their official pdf's don't state it grrr.

they're straight pull not j bend.

^^ How did you do that?

@SoliD what is the ebay seller you recommended for cheap carb0n wheelz?

I honestly don't know? it was yesterday on the way home! I recall feeling my wheel "twist/buckle" when I Was track standing not far from work and noticed that my rear was a bit twitchy? hard to explain.. once I got home only then did I see that the spoke snapped..

and I did what every sane man would do, go to sleep.

Awesome mileage mate, especially as a huge chunk of that is SS commuting! Have you noticed much improvement with your climbing power/stamina from it? Or you think much of the improvement been offset by the increased fatigue and tiredness?

Too busy flicking your balls.:eek:;)

Froome was playing Pokemon Go in the final TDF stage.

'7+14 spokes, steel, round Ø 2 mm' is all I can see on the Fulcrum site(PDF).

Not got much time to look but none of the reviews I saw talked about the build/spokes much if/at all. :(

Stuck in the worlds worst training course for the rest of the week. Apache/Tomcat which should take 20 minutes to cover but the trainer seems to be able to make the most simple cack take forever. Brain melting out my ears.

a bike shop that does lots of wheel building will be able to determine broadly the right length by holding spokes from their stock up against it, then trial fitting a few close lengths until they find the right one

This. Your only other logical option is to measure up the length of an equal unbroken spoke and order yourself a replacement.

EDIT: Mitch PRO4 v2 Endurance @ £22 a pop. 25mm & 28mm. Very tempted over a 28mm pair at that price for my Diverge commuting... :o

true but I don't have the time to pop down to one :/ weekend only! derp. gunna measure one of the spokes and maybe get an idea for length!

I'd say go for 25mm, pro 4's are fat and 25mm looks more like 28mm haha.

Anyone tried these vs GP4Seasons? need a new front soonish (i run a sticky front and a hard wearing rear for commuting - current rear is a durano)

I have been running them for the past month and have had no problems. Excellent grip and puncture protection. A huge upgrade from my Gatorskins which, on reflection, may not be saying much...
