Road Cycling

160 miles done. Wasn't really that bad aside from failing to manage my food quite as well as I should. I had two points at about 110 and 140 miles where I felt like I would've bonked if I'd pushed much further without eating more (also I ran out of food at the same time :p). Stopped at a pub and ate all the sugar, suddenly riding was easy again.

Off to grab some beer and pizza to aid with recovery.

I'm doing a 12 hour next weekend so being reminded about your 300 makes me feel better. :D

Glad to help :p

What's your 12 hour ride again?

What's your nutrition plan for the 300?

Haven't really decided to be honest. I won't have that much storage space and it will be supported ride so partly I'll be reliant on the food they make available at the rest stops (I need to research what I'm likely to find). I think I'll aim to carry at least 500 kcal extra on me at all times though.

Yesterday on the 160 I got lazy about nutrition after 100 miles. This is classic me. I had to stop and grab sugar twice. Once I did I was fine but I was starting to feel very rough around the edges until I did. Definitely need to avoid that on the 300.

It's the ECCA 12 hour TT so will end up looking something like this: https://www.strava.com/activities/19113016 just maybe not quite as far! Need to do some serious planning this week for my support crew (wife and parents been roped in).

Thinking about London Edinburgh London next year though, have you considered it?

That looks pretty horrendous

As does LEL... I'd kind of said to myself that I wouldn't try and do anything ridiculous next year but...hmm... It does sound kind of interesting :) If you're doing it and fancy a ride partner I could be tempted...

I went out this evening to test my new saddle. It's ok. The weather wasn't. Horrible crosswinds, then headwinds, then crosswinds again, then finally some tailwind as I turned home, at which point it started pouring down. And it was dark. Rubbish. Good job I'd just cleaned my bike! Sigh.

It was quite nice this morning but it seems like the weather has gradually gotten worse throughout the day. Listening to the sound of rain outside right now (which admittedly is quite soothing when I'm nice and dry inside :p).

uv had that saddle for a bit and found it a bit to tough for his delicate derriere. Quite interested to hear how you get on with it on longer rides :)

It's the British way.
HATE everyone that earns more money than you :D That's why I hate everyone in the world basically.

I have a mate who is full Rapha clad.
Rides a £9k Bianchi.
You blokes would love him, he's right up your street and he's the nicest bloke in the world... however, he rides his bike about once a week. And he doesn't shave his legs.

My hero! *swoons*

(Though actually these days I've got silky smooth legs )
