Road Cycling

I bet it's just a case of the pickers/warehouse being faster than the automated computer system, I've had orders before that turned up next day before the system knew about it, especially when paying next day.

I imagine they get the order, confirm payment, and box it up priority, ship it then the system gets updated.

Yup, you're probably right. In the meantime though I've looked into alternative arrangements as they've utterly failed to communicate what is going on.

I've raised a cancellation via Paypal. I'm fairly sure you're right and the item will turn up tomorrow but I'm going to cycle down to Evans in the morning and buy them in person - I've already demanded that I get a refund for the next day delivery fee in addition to the item refund should I have to return. I've also uploaded a load of proof of Wiggle ineptitude.

Totally can be awkward when I want to be :p

I guess the rotors may turn up before 9 tomorrow, in which case I'll let the case drop.

Just to add to the above, I wouldn't be this awkward about it if I hadn't bothered to upgrade my delivery. I'd only pay for next day in the event that it's actually urgent so no contact is just.... a bit cack.

Anyhow, bled my hydraulics earlier and the fluid I flushed out was pretty grim. Hopefully they'll be a bit nicer to use once I get the new rotors and pads on there.

So I've now got a "your order has been dispatched" email and my order shows as processed today on the site. With an expected delivery date of today. Sounds dodgy to me and their CS forms still all crash out. I've tried dropping their Twitter account a message but don't hold out much hope.

Shower time in a sec then off to Evans in the sun with my slightly dubious brakes.

Usually Wiggle and DPD are pretty good FT. Must just be increased demand as others said.

You should get a message from DPD soon if it is actually going to arrive today!

I've nearly always had good experiences with DPD tbh so it's more Wiggle that I'm blaming here :)

Anyhow, paypal dispute filed last night, Wiggle contacted via various means and no contact from DPD (which as you say, I'd expect if Wiggle had pulled their finger out). I'm off to the Trafford Centre Evans to get my rotors instead.

Wiggle finally admitted that they haven't packed the order in time and sent a refund for the £4. Of course, ignoring all my contact regarding asking them to cancel the whole order.

Anyhow, new rotors bought from Evens. Now to fit them and see if I can get out for a quick spin before my guest arrives.

Just got out for another fasted ride before wedding shenanigans later. Felt pretty good though my legs are bit tired from walking around for a billion miles yesterday. Bit of a shame I didn't push it more as 20mph average would've been nice. Heyho.

New hose and re-bleed seems to have sorted the leak issue but I cut the hose too long and was too lazy to cut it down further before I did it all up..now I have a weird super long hose bit sticking out of the front of my handlebars

Also, based on the lack of braking power and ridiculous squealing I'm now 100% convinced that the pads and/or the rotor were badly contaminated. Quite annoying as they're brand new. Sigh. Going to pick up new pads tomorrow and some fluid to clean the rotor thoroughly.

Does anybody here use Photochromic glasses/lenses? I'm considering getting a pair as club rides seem to venture down narrow, shaded and poorly surfaced roads (generally your worst nightmare, treacherous).

Finding myself looking over the tops of my DHB and that they are bouncing around on my face the process. I took them off for a few climbs/descents and tucked them in my HRM strap but less faffing would be nice.

If so do you find they change quickly enough not to be problematic?

My fathers glasses used to be photochromic but the speed of change is somewhat less urgent on standard glasses.

Personally I just use lenses with uv protection and little else. Best bet for most UK weather.

Off to the bike shop to get new front pads and disc cleaning fluid. With luck I'll have a fully working bike by 11:00 so I can get out for a ride.

I'll still have a ridiculously long hose sticking out the front but that's not normally something the ladies complain about...

Finally got the brake fixed (and shortened the hose whilst I was at it).

Has to have been one of my more annoying bike maintenance experiences.

At least I can now go out in the nice wea...oh..no..it's cack outside.

Just back from near there myself. If you're heading over to the Aravis, make sure to add in the Col de la Croix Fry. Easier to see from a map, but do the Col de la Colombiere>St Jean de Sixt>Thones>Col de la Croix Fry>Col des Aravis then descend back down the Aravis via La Clusaz and back to Morzine via Entremont and Bonneville. The Tour climbed the other side of the Aravis but it's probably too far to do a proper loop from Morzine. I can suggest a route if you're game though.

Watch out for idiot motorbikes on the Colombiere - I got hit by one on Friday and ended up in a French hospital. Only cuts and bruises luckily but currently testing out my Bikmo insurance so I will keep you all posted.

:( Sorry to hear that. Glad you're not too badly off though.

Getting Bikmo to chase the other guy?

Pretty horrendous week in work again but off today. Weather is meant to clear up around lunch time so I'll get out for a relaxed metric I reckon.

Supposed to be doing a training ride tomorrow of 100+ miles so I can't be too knackered for that.

Wiggle CS awesomeness strikes again.

Evans are selling the Gabba 2 cheaply so I asked Wiggle to match. Wiggle refused based on the fact that black and red were out of stock in the size I wanted. Other colours are in stock.

I've replied with a bit of a rant about how stupid the reasoning is. If they're happy to price match other colours why does it matter if they then send out a different colour option?
