Robert Kubica has suffered "serious injuries"

Christ how unlucky is that accident, watching that animation is chilling since you know where that track section is heading inside the car. He's seriously unlucky in the way it happened but also massively lucky his body isn't in two halves!

Renault team boss Eric Boullier has already ruled Bruno out of being in contention for the drive, because he doesn't meet the team's requirement of being an experienced driver. He's giving the Brazilian some time in the car to help him build his experience, but any cockpit time Senna gets is Renault keeping one eye on the long-term future.

"Heidfeld's test yesterday was very much all about the short term. Renault's programme is likely to be different to yesterday - it's worth pointing out that the team has planned to do some very long runs for the past two days and has ended up running out of time, so that could be on the agenda."

Just heard on bbc news that Kubica has left intensive care :)

Huh? The BBC news website says he's staying in Intensive Care for the next couple of days until his final operation is completed (this is the lead story on the BBC F1 news page).

Yeah he had a 7 hour op the day he crashed, moved out of intensive care before having a 9 hour op on Friday. They've since kept him in the ICU before his last op due on Wednesday for his elbow to save having to move him between wards.

Sucks to be him. Hope he has a good recovery.

He got mentioned on Top Gear last night too, who also wished him a speedy recovery. Nice of them to be nice and not talk about the mexicans for once.

Hope he makes a full recovery. Absolutely gutted, despite not supporting him so to speak.

He makes an interesting point in the Autosport interview:

Kubica said:
"I drive better in F1 because I did many rallies last year. Rallying helps your concentration, especially since there is almost no more testing in F1. Performance in F1 comes from a series of details.

I think his rallying played a bit effect on why he was always so quick on street circuits. Committed to pushing right to the very edge like needed in Rallying :)

As expected, Heidfeld confirmed in the Renault seat.

Unquestionably the best man for the job. Now let's get Kubica back to 100% this year, and get him a championship winning car for next year. Fairytale? Absolutely, but I don't care.

Sadly if the Renualt is as quick as it looks then their 2012 car might be comprismised if they end up fighting at the front

I was very impressed with Kubica last year, not really paid much attention to him before that, I think he really deserves a good car

Why would their 2012 car be compromised? Heidfeld if arguably as good if not better than Kubica at testing/development

Because if it's good enough this year to fight for the front they'll divert effort from preparing next years car to developing this years one.
