S....

They really need to rethink this opening ceremony lark...!

Missed team GB as I got bored after D!

Oh yeah, and as "they" brought it up first. It's kinda ironic that Brazil are trying to do the whole "Eco" thing and replanting a forest. I guess it'll go some way towards helping reduce the deforestation caused by recent law changes to help increase deforestation and pasteurisation of much of the country... :p

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/27/amazon-deforestation-report-brazil-paris-climate-talks

The increase is the result of weaker government regulation, particularly the relaxation of the Forest Code; dams, roads and other infrastructure projects; the growing strength of the agricultural lobby; and the faltering economy, which is driving more people to illegally log timber and clear land for cattle and crops.

And now the talking! Lets see if the put that out music on after the president talks to drown out the boos. :p

Can hear the booing! :D

My bad. I thought it was the Brazilian president speaking. Apparently he is going to say 14 words and then the loud music is going to play. Not sure if he has already spoken though, missed the bit before the athletes came in.

Did anyone actually understand what he was on about. Very passionate but thats about it!:D

Amazing rotating sculpture around the cauldron. Stunning. Worth struggling through all the speeches for the final carnival procession and the cauldron.

on practicalities of watching it ;

They will most likely be on one of the 8 BBC Olympics HD channels. Programs on those channels are titled according to the specific sport and the more info tells you what team is playing.

Channels are between 480-487 on Sky and 561-568 on VM.

You can tune the 8 channels on freeview too not sure if it's HD though.

is there anyway to set a reminder so that you media box will switch live to the sport you do not want to miss, if you happen to be watching another sport (or worse if you went to sleep, record it, although iplayer catch up will probably be ok in that case)

it seems crummy to me that sheduling is not like regular programs where you know channel x will show what you want at a specific time.

*UPDATE* Ok the red button channels have now been listed with specific sports, so can set reminders
