Robot Wars returning to BBC2!

That was some fight, the last hit pretty much wrecks both robots.

That RSRL tagging is super annoying.

Has there ever been a robot with a Mole Drill kind of attachment? Seen a few with ramming spikes but they seem to do little in terms of damage.

I doubt it would work, to be honest. I'd have thought it would harmlessly spin against the surface of nearly all robots.

With a bit of fine tuning Pulsar could be great. Needs a shallower angle on the front to get under the robots better and some protection for the wheels.

With a sharp point and some high rpm behind it surely it could rip through a lot of types of armour? Certainly id say it would do more damage than the ramming spikes some robots have had.

Pulsar reminded me of a crap version of the battlebot Minotaur.

Now tell me this isn't epic destruction...

yep a proper fight, robot wars on sunday was dire. only one good robot and as you say pales into insignificance compared to battleboits as well as it was utterly unreliable.

Anyone any thoughts on why so many robots seem unreliable? Seen some people say that the teams only had 3 months to prepare for the new show so possibly a lot of teething problems went unfixed to make the tv dates?

A lot don't even seem to have tested them let alone on a similar surface. Some can't even drive on it. Funds seem to be an issue sometimes too. Not cheap!

Wonder how much the shows pays the teams that make the tv stages, presumably enough to cover repairs at least.

Was it filmed over the course of 1 day?

I ask because the host (hnnngggg) is wearing the same outfit in every interview she's conducted and it's hardly a uniform. Also, did I spy the storm 2 team captain helping Chompalot with the repairs?

When we watched the full episode featuring Minotaur fighting that bot, shown in the video above, the guy who designed it, from Brazil, mentioned that as soon as he was able to dent the front skirt of that other bot he knew to exploit and then just rip it apart. Minotaur is proving to be an amazing bot so far in the episodes we have watched.

Excellent series, Battle Bots, so far - apart from the presenters who seem a little brash and in your face, but it is American after all.

The heats definitely are; you regularly see the robots from other heats in the background. Plus, let's face it, it would be super dull if you went to watch and saw just one episode's fights over the course of a day.

I presume the final was shot separately.

Some of you guys should probably just stop watching if its so crap. Gets a bit boring seeing the same complaints over and over. Next season once the bots have had a year and a bit of work they will probably be a lot better and they will probably adjust the format.

Pulsar could easily take on the likes of minatour with a few tweaks. It was built by a kid with no engineering backgroud, pretty impressive if you ask me. Just needs to sort the reliability out and add more protection to the wheels.

Yeah I noticed this as well. Shame, i'd have liked to see her in some tighter fitting attire .

I don't think anyone has called it crap, but this series has not had many "clean" battles where at least one robot hasn't died of its own accord :p

Pulsar could be devastating with a simple tweak and some reliability (hence why I linked the video of Minotaur - same weapon).

Been watching a few episodes of Battle Bots tonight and quite a few have exposed tires that don't get punished or targeted like in the UK version. The drones I've seen seem pretty pointless so far too. The fights and arena are a lot better though.

I doubt that those fights form a representative sample of BattleBots fights. You can find dull, rubbish BattleBots fights if you look around. My guess is that, actually, the fights are about as good on average.

I've watched all episodes of Battlebots 2016 so far and I can't think of a dull one?

At least one robot seems to have this safety switch falling out problem as soon as a piece of dust lands on them. Surely they can just duck-tape it in place FFS!

Search for Minotaur and Photon Storm - a great example of this! Minotaur will go all the way I think.

I criticise it because I used to be a massive fan and I want to see it as good as it can be. Right now I feel the producers/BBC have let everyone down.
