Robot Wars returning to BBC2!

I got X-Terminator wrong :( But got all the others :)

A legged robot class of some sort would be cool :) Always fascinated me seeing the robots outside of the arena, makes you realize just how big the things are

Might be cool if they have a bipedal robot class as well as the usual a-remote-control-car-with-spikes-etc class.

They had a "walker" class, which had the bonus of having twice the weight limit, but they were few in number and were always seriously outmatched by the more mobile wheeled robots.

Awesome! I can imagine the awesomeness that could happen with modern day rlectronics! I did a school based robot wars when I was in school and it was amazing fun, took up just about every dinner time!

I am interested to see how technology changes it, for example I know lots of robots had problems with steering in the original series, I wonder how that has improved.

I would imagine the main improvements will be battery technology (energy density). Maybe a bit more in automation with raspberry Pi type stuff, but that's not massively different to the likes of PIC chips 15 years ago.

Just watched the first ever episode on YouTube last night, so good :D

Forgot how much I actually remembered, Neneses and Roadblock :D

Funniest part has to be the state of Jeremy Clarkson :p

Razer team have confirmed they are interested in returning and Jonathan Pearce wants to return :)

Craig Charles said he'd love to return but he's heard nothing yet.

They need Craig Charles back!!

I'd like Clarkson back also but it's the BBC, so it's not going to happen.

If anyone's been watching the US wars you will know this has moved on quite a bit since the BBC stopped broadcasting this.

I've watched the Battlebots fight only caps, it's ok but the commentators are irritating and the arena is boring.

Fights are often boring regardless of the arena, depends on match-up.

Agreed, the US presenters and the shows setup in general are irritating.

I was going to post about Battlebots and have seen a fair bit on youtube.
Its interesting to see it seems to have evolved that the propper l337 bots are all spinny whirrly things - like Hypnodisk on steriods. Also interesting that the Razor team are still going and that theirs is a glammed up spinny thing with wings. Sadly it doesnt fly.
I always prefered this sort of robot tbf, esp that Typhoon thing which was made by Air Cadets iirc.
Anywho, while I'm far too old for all this I do relish it coming back on, even if only for 6 episodes.
