Rome 2 : Total War

On Rock Paper Shotgun, the chap mentions after the video that he sort of wants the same, which is great as it shows I am not alone. Also the old style of building & recruitment with the whole page that comes up, rather than what we have now would be appreciated.

New recruitment system for you to deal with unfortunately (although personally I like the sound of the new system). Have a read of the huge preview over on Strategy Informer though. Some great info in it (there's a part 1 and part 2). http://www.strategyinformer.com/

Well Mr Weasel, that was an interesting little read I must say.

At least some of the recruitment / construction has changed, so hopefully it will be more appealing to me. I think that it being set in the period that it is, will help to immerse me more anyway. I find it quite hard to distinguish between different units in Shogun, they all look the same! But Roman units do seem to be quite different, not just from any current screen shots, but from the old game too.

I like the new trait system that is mentioned there too, that you get to chose what your army get, and that you can invest in making that specific trait stronger, so the army may only have a few traits, but they are all very strong, or that you can spread it out and have ten different, but less effective ones.

Some very good ideas seem to have gone into the game, let's just hope they pull it off!

That's my big fear really - TW games are notorious for launching with some relatively big bugs, and Rome II is their most ambitious title to date. In other words, there's far more stuff that can go wrong :p I'm still excited and optimistic though.

I don't like how you can re-raise the army if it is destroyed as if nothing happened. Should lose half the traits or something. Wonder if you can capture enemy armies/standards.

I guess that's why they're specifically being called traditions rather than traits. You do lose all regular upgrades like experience etc.

What kind of gfx card do you think would make this game look awesome?

I built a PC a few months ago but still haven't bought a gfx card for it yet as I don't have much time for gaming atm, but when this is released I should have.

Are the next gen gfx cards due out anytime soon?

I loved the original Rome: Total War game and this looks pretty awesome.

Nope, highly unlikely that next gen are out prior to RTW2.

I would imagine after E3 next week and rezzed at the end of the month there will be plenty of videos and screenshots to have a good look at!

Really looking forward to this, hoping to get fully involved with some MP coop campaigns early doors before we have all worked out the nuances of the game.

Still struggling to decide who to play as, I guess it will depend who I am playing coop with, it would be great to pick two factions that specialise in different areas, be it troops or otherwise. :)

Thanks for sharing Bakes0310, the campaign map certainly looks awesome this time around. Hopefully a demo will come out soon so I can sink my teeth into it. September can't come sooner.

Bought on pre order from Steam @ £29.99. Hesitated a long time on this one as I never did enjoy the Shogun II series, and yet I bought all of the expansions etc.
What swung me over to buy it was my love of the RTW game, hopefully they will recapture that gampeplay etc in this updated version.

This is looking really good, wonder how it will run? Shogun 2 was very demanding on the CPU. Will probably pick this up closer to the time, there will likely be lots of offers about.
