Rome 2 : Total War

Ended up uninstalling Shogun yesterday. I think the lack of difference between the units on the battlefield (visually) annoys me a bit. Also, trying to get my head round the fact that you don't really need to leave generals at cities any more is something a bit difficult for me to get too, I know it is simple, but I feel exposed leaving my provinces without anyone looking after them.

Roll on Rome :D

Yes, factions will be DLC. It seems impossible to find a game these days that doesn't do the whole DLC thing which, in my opinion, is the scourge of PC gaming today.

I really miss the old days when you just paid for a complete game and the odd expansion, not the main game, loads of DLC and an expansion.

With COH2 sounding like it could be a wet blanket... im probably eggs in one basket on this game, so whats the best pre order to get to make sure i get the right units etc

Id rather have them now,so I can enjoy the game frmo the off, rather than wait.

It bothers me a little, however hopefully they will be competitively priced.
DLC costs are coming down recently, especially in the Steam sales, so I don't mind as much as I used to.

Anyway, like Kishywish, I love the series and cannot wait for Rome 2 - dlc or not! :P The vanilla game will certainly tide me over until the DLC is on sale anyway haha

Well I didn't have that mindset for long, pre-ordered it again xD, I only want to play as the greeks anyway, possibly the brits. On rome 1 I used to play as one of the greek factions and loved defending city battles seeing roman armies try there best to push through my spear walls and failing. Only once did I manage to corner a roman army and march them into the sea. Was abit evil seeing all these troops trying to swim away and drowning.

I only have issue with DLC when the main game is neglected in order to provide customers with a reason to spend more money. Shogun II was the pits for this. Want factions that actually have a unique play style? You'll have to pay for them. Want units that provide some differentiation between the vanilla factions? You'll have to pay for those too. Thankfully, this doesn't appear to be the plan with Rome II. The vanilla game seems sufficiently fleshed out. If paying for more means the new factions get a necessary level of care and attention, I have no issues paying for them. If we get clone factions, they can sod off.

I think one [680 gtx] would max it @ 1080p.

Should do pretty handily, so long as you have some CPU/Memory grunt behind it.

I'm hoping the current hd7000 range drop in price significantly so I can get a decent one and use 1 card also :) (hoping the rest of my rig should be good for a couple years yet...)

No information has been yet been released on when a demo will/may be released.

Ok, but the guy above said no demo. I would be surprised if that was the case seen as every recent Total War release has had a demo!

Just pre-ordered this from Sainsburys for £6.99 :D (using a £20 nectar voucher). I like the look of the greek factions.

There is a 10% off pre-order code for Sainsbury's as well if anyone is interested.
