Rome 2 : Total War

im waiting 6 months after release to buy it.

steam Easter sales, as the game will be littered with DLC.

they'll be charging again for the blood and gore....

After Empire / Shogun 2 I'll be holding off due to the additional DLC they'll spew out. As many have said Christmas and easter sales will have it for next to nothing.

This tactic worked well for me in the past.. I just game 6 months behind most lol

I'm AGOG at idea of having to pay extra for some blood/gore effects in Rome 2... If I'm understanding that correctly?

I'm returning to PC ownership & gaming (Rome 2 & BF4 are luring me back) from an absence of about 9 years. What the hell has happened? That's just not cricket.

I believe the party line is that B&G is released as DLC in order to keep the age restrictions down and open the TW titles to a wider audience. No comment afaik as to why we actually have to pay for it, as opposed to it being free release day DLC right enough..

It's just wrong having loads of DLC on launch; has put me off buying other games in the past but i'll be buying Rome 2 no matter how much DLC they release it with.

I'm wondering, if I'm running an i7 920 @ 3.8 and 2x1GB 5870's at stock, would I see much improvement upgrading to a 4670k and a 7970 vs just a 7970 upgrade?

Not sure how much of a performance increase a 4670k would give me for this.

I have actually just bought a 4670k, but I'm upgrading from my trusty Q6600 - don't think there would be much of a bottleneck with a 7970 and your current CPU.

I'll probably pick up DLC in a future Steam sale, worked for Shogun! The cost kind of pales into comparison next to the £400 I've just spent on CPU/RAM etc. though :o.

You might see a small improvement on upgrading the CPU but I wouldn't say it would be enough to make a worthwhile difference. Better off upgrading the GPU and going for a CPU upgrade in the future imo.

Meh, I don't mind Total War DLC - as at least you get a full game even if you don't buy any DLC.

Also, £29.99 for Rome 2 with the Greek faction pack DLC is more than worth the money, I've plugged in countless hours from all the total war series ranging all the way back to the first Shogun & expect this one to blow the rest out of the water.

In general I dislike DLC, HOWEVER, if the game is amazing, then DLC can be justified.

It's about the quality.
Exactly, cheap DLC for an amazing game is fine - as long as the DLC is priced reasonably & you can play the full game (with all the core features without it).

I've never bought DLC for any Total war games (unless it was a pre-order bonus) & I've always felt more than satisfied with the games as they were released then after I've exhausted the game I hunt down the best mods! the blood & gore should never be DLC IMO though!
