Rome 2 : Total War

True I need to let go off , pc games should be half price of a console game

 It is no more expensive than any other PC game really.

You could have pre-ordered it from Sainsburys Entertainment for £26 a few weeks ago. I did. Used £20 of nectar points on it as well :D

RE: DLC. I hate it too. if there is any DLC i want though, i will just pick it up in the steam sales when it can be had for 50p-a few pounds.

As Jono with DLC unless its truly amazing e.g. an amazing faction. Unfortunately they will probably just churn out rubbish and block modders.

What factions are people leaning towards for their first stab at the game?

I am keen to play a multiplayer campaign as soon as possible before the game is known inside out to keep it challenging and force ironman-type gameplay.

Lots of factions interest me, Iceni from the barbarian factions to have a go with the chariots, Athens for the interesting start (vassal of Macedon, good navy, poorer land forces), I would be happy with most of them.

Its nice that they have shown us a peek at the campaign, I would love to see them actually playing through a few turns with a faction from the start to get a feel for it. Not long to go now, all I need to do is replace my laptop before Sept 3...

New trailer, "Find a Way"

First play has to be Rome for me! the subjugation of Gaul by Caesar was always my favourite part of the first Rome game, I always try to match actual history as much as I can with my faction until it's impossible due to the AI, after that Iceni or Sparta then the rest then Rome again then....you get the idea :)

This is what I loved to do in RTR. I think the order went something like:

Conquer mainland Italy up to the Rubicon.
Conquer Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily (should really defeat Carthage and receive these when you sue for peace, though the diplomacy wasn't good enough in RTW to allow this)
Conquer Illyria
Take Carthage's Spanish holdings.
Take Cisalpine Gaul
Subjugate Macedonia and the Greek City states (vassalize)

Then it all goes a bit hazy tbh, was such a long time ago.

Nice mix of faction choices, can't wait to get some MP campaigns going :)
MP in total war can be a real test on a friendship, Myself & a mate played Shogun 2 & agreed not to attack each other until we were the last factions standing but I noticed he would be hiding units well before in preparation so I started concealing men aboard trade ships in the hope he would not notice when we eventually went to war with each other he thought he had the upper hand then I unleashed my little surprise at the other end of the map, He called all the names under the sun & it's still a sore subject now :)

Boring, but Rome was my favourite faction - but this one may be different (as I'm sure they will all be as equally in depth) as he first game only had the wide variety of units for the Roman factions.

Seriously thinking about booking at least a couple of days off for this release... sad I know....
