Rome 2 : Total War

What does that mod add the vanilla rome?

Tried googling what it does but work internet is blocking it :(

RTR as it was known was huge and added a massive amount of new stuff to the game. It basically tried to add a certain amount of authenticity which was seriously lacking in the original. It also fixed a lot of little niggles. It was such a good mod that I couldn't play the original game afterwards - it was comical.

But I can't help feel this game will require much the same - so I doubt I will buy it on release :(

It was an amazing mod, however it slowed gameplay significantly and increased the difficulty (Both campaign and battles).
So it's certainly not for everyone - especially less experienced TW players or those not so deeply interested in the minute details of the history.

I loved it at first but grew tired of it and went back to the speedier vanilla and less extensive mods.

However Shogun 2 made the vanilla gameplay far to fast imo, I'm hoping that it's slowed a little now, though I'm worried that it'll still be Benny Hill movement... We shall see.

Even though it had shed loads of bugs at launch and had problems all the way through I still think Empire Total War has the best mix of speed of gameplay and units.

Empire remains my favourite TW game so far. I still play it now and then :) Currently taking over America as Sweden :P

I see they broke pre order records sigh its cringe worthy so many people would blindly pre order based off a few youtube videos. It looks very arcade and fast compared to Rome I and i see they still have not got the phalanx right after ten years lol.

I think i will be waiting for this one in the sales.

I agree to some degree, it certainly looks faster and more 'arcade like' than the original.
However I personally still find as much enjoyment from this style (though granted I prefer the slower pace) and so am happy too pre-order as I have never been completely disappointed with any of their games so far.

If that kind of thing is really not for you then of course avoid pre-ordering. I just think it means they've found a speed/play style that's more popular.
Though it's my favourite, Empire flopped not because of the bugs, but because it was a very slow paced game which I think is more of a minority preference.

I think the main thing is to see each release as a new game entirely, in the same style of game. Basically it's not a re-make of Rome 1, it's a new game based on the same time period. Thinking of it that way I can happily flick between any of their games and find them all enjoyable in their own way.

Edit:
Wow, on reading through that I sound like a right fan-boy haha!

Looks like a brilliant game, no reason not to pre-order if you are a fan of the Total War series. Isn't really just a few YouTube videos, there is a lot of information about the game out already.

Someones missing the point here, just like every other Vanillia TW there all Arcadey. That's what mods are for ie Rome total realism mod. Darth Mod etc etc

To be honest from what I'm hearing inside CA the game being a bit fast paced is the least of your problems.
