Rome 2 : Total War

6 hour marathon session... That''ll have been about 10 turns then.

Garbage.

The turns times aren't too long, it's that people these days have zero patience. The 'stare at screen all day' generation have lost the ability to entertain themselves for a few minutes. Let's say a turn takes 5 minutes (it doesn't on my PC) i'd pick a book up and read a few pages, but then again reading books is another lost art for most people.

The moment some people lose contact with a screen, it's like their world has ended. The moment a screen isn't entertaining them they are lost and bored.

Yeah the turn time is better in this than Shogun 2, that's something they've improved a lot. It takesa little longer in this than Shogun, but there are like 5x as many factions to process and 10x as many settlements for all the AI to manage and decide to attack etc etc.

Brains here hasn't heard of exaggeration. If you think having to entertain yourself through other means while doing something that in itself should be entertaining is acceptable, then I couldn't care less. It isn't acceptable for me.

I shouldn't have to though. If I want to read a book, I'll read a book. It doesn't take me 2 minutes to turn a page once I've finished one.

I don't mind waiting a little for the turns to finish, but it is getting a bit ridiculous at times. This nothing to do with patience, its to do with wanting to play the game I paid for.

Bit of a weird one,

Started deploying a siege when I relished that I had built those wooden shield trolley things instead of a battering ram. (Didn't realise at this point that you can burn down gates instead like shogun)

So I made my army drop the equiment and withdraw but the wooden trolley things turn round completely by themselves and follow them like some benny hill sketch!

But you are playing it, the turn times are part of the game. I know you're frustrated and everyone is with this release, but it's going to be months before it's fixed and even longer before the game is what it could and should be. I don't see what else you can do except be patient or turn it off.

So far CA haven't even touched the surface of the issues this game has. This is how TW works, they release the game, the community fixes it and then improves it.

I can live with the low-ish FPS, but the turn times are doing me in... :(

My i5 is sitting at 70% when idle on the campaign map, coincidence? Possibly explains why turn times are so long 'cause there isn't much left for the turns.

It's because it's very poorly optmised, unfinished and bugged.

It's a beta at best, more like an alpha.

It's going to be months to years before this game is what it could and should be.

That's always been the TW way.
