Rome 2 : Total War

such a shame this game has poo poo'd a lot of expectations for this game.
when i attack bovinium, the prologue doubled back on the turn and im back laying seize to the town. still haven't tried much campaign, but yeh im not looking forward to 5 min + waiting times, that will frustrate.
it does seem to be the TW way, and even though it's not the right way to sell a game i still think there's enough to play (and enjoy) it as necessary improvements are slowly added over the months (hopefully)

Anyone have problems with joining multiplayer? Every game in the browser says different version, despite steam updating my game yesterday...

Was this after you'd won the battle? I got the "end sequence" then a button appears saying continue campaign ie not acknowledging I'd finished the prologue which was a bit odd, and then I was back at the previous turn seigeing again.

Anyway, on to the main campaign I got. Decided to go for the Britons or whatever they're called in this. But does anyone know how to get it to replay the initial briefing? I got confused with all the names and can't remember now who I was supposed to attack, and who I was supposed to try and ally with?

There are quite a few mods now out for it and if anyone is running one of those it won't be compatible with your version.

And even though we have a mod thread it seems to have disappeared I will say that Radious has released a Rome 2 Overhaul pack. Not obviously as indepth as they will be getting but its a group of seperate mods he made to change AI campaign behaviour, graphic effects, battle unit stats, kill rates, morale and a few others. I'd recommend anyone heading over to the TWCenter forums and having a look, even though the forums are terrible at the moment and take 60 seconds to load a page!

Pack does help though, battles are much more prolonged and enjoyable. Just waiting for the turn times and AI to be sorted. Then they can do the performance!

I'd wait a couple of weeks at least. There are some bugs which are frequent and groan inducing but the game behind it isn't that bad as inital reactions dictate. The fact there are over 20 mods out already, being updated daily means the one thing likely to take the longest to sort by the devs 'battle AI' should be much improved by the modders before CA ever get to it.

At the moment new patches are being released every friday and hopefully another 2 weeks worth should iron out the potential game breaking ones. Heres hoping anyway!

What difficulty and faction is everybody playing on? I've raised the difficulty on a new campaign as rome to very hard and the AI is still being completely passive with their armies of scrub spear men and slingers.

Finally got round to playing this and my first impressions are not bad, not having a clue what i am doing tho lol much different to the first Rome. FPS are fine as well, but they do go up and down quite a bit.

yeh win battle, get 'end sequence' and it just doubles back to the previous turn. don't remember even getting the 'continue campaign' message.

going to tuck into a campaign next w/end and very much looking forward to it :)

boredom has set in, think it might be the distance between provinces that are pottung me off!

Also has anyone else thought that diplomacy is borked, even friendly states refuse trade outright then demand ludicrous amouts for a non agression pact?
