Rome 2 : Total War

Not bad so far for me... couple of hours in. Did the prologue to a point then thought id just jump straight in.
Runs well, navel aint great but the city battles etc are really awesome.
 
Gotta say that I'm disappointed with the way the game looks, campaign map looks superb but in battle it's a pretty ugly game. Managing to max it with semi-respectable framerates but it seems to run worse than Shogun 2, which IMO looked better. Disappointing but the gameplay is good at least. During the first prologue of Capua, the final battle dropped me below 20fps, which again is disappointing but it's early days and every TW game has had horrible optimisation.
 
Yeah i am getting drops to 15-20fps on Ultra on my SLI 680s Haswell setup lol, game seems good though but if i put gfx on Extreme it seems worse than Ultra due to vram limit or something they need to fix i reckon as when i turn unlimited memory option on the textures in the ground will go black. :p

Like the music and sounds.:)

It's an amazing game simple as. Runs fine on max settings on the rig in my sig. However, when the battle map is rainy the GFX fans are drowning out the noise of the planes just taking off from BHX.

Yeah I think it's best to drop some settings cause in a game like this framerate is the most important thing. I was shocked as to how the game looks though tbh! When I first played I just jumped straight into the prologue and as the Capua mission started, I thought it had defaulted me to the lowest graphical settings or something, and when I looked in the options and saw 'EXTREME' next to every setting I died a little inside. :p

Honestly think that the campaign map in Shogun 2 didn't look as good, but the battles were much, much prettier.
 
In multiplayer can 5 or more of you play against AI? (Like old Rome Total War could!)

Or is it limited to a max of 4 per side?
 
doesnt this game support MSAA?

looks bitty IMO.

lol pressing space to see unit movement still causes game to slowdown.

been the same since empire.

Well i dont know if my sainsburys entertainment order has been delivered yet ( was despatched yeserday) but i got my dlc code.....what is worrying is that it says it is only valid ( to be redeemed) today! What if royal mail has failed and i dont have the game, will the dlc still activate??
 
Had a quick go this morning, my settings all auto extreme as well, played like a tortoise with a breeze block on it's back wading through treacle.

Seemed 'ok' from my 30 mins with it

If it fails it will be saino's fault for not posting it sooner, they posted my halo4 second class the day before release. Never used them again after that.


Whats with the 1gig update soon as I finish install?

Mine automatically went extreme as well (4670k + 7950), I have yet to play a battle though so I don't know what the frame rate is.
