Rooney - 2 B Sold

Listening to 5live before the Inter game and they had some guy from the supports club saying he believes in what Rooney is saying about future players etc.

Some smart united fans out there. Most would rather bury their heads in the sand though.

Remember when we used to thrash the likes of Brondby, now we're content to "play it safe" for a 1-0 win :(
We have the perfect manager for that style of play going 'spare' soon ;) if you want him ;)

Man United boss Sir Alex Ferguson: "I haven't read Wayne Rooney's statement, but we'll have a view on it tomorrow and probably put it to bed tomorrow. As I said, the door is open. We keep good players, particularly when they are that young. He wants assurances? Have I won 30 trophies or what?!"

Barca in are massive debt so are Real, not sure on Italian teams, only team to buy in the EPL is Man City even Chelsea have not spent anything big for a few years, days of buying 2 £25 million players is long gone.

Sounds similar to the Gerrard fiasco a few years ago, 'Pool fans forgave him for that.

Although Gerrard wasn't winning anything :D

Guessing:
" He wants assurances? Have I won 30 trophies or what?!"

Yes thats the past, the 'boy' wanted assurances about future purchases and investment. It's very telling they couldn't give him any. Even Liverpool up to their eyeballs in debt found it in them to lie to Torres about future investment :D

Rooney has seen Ronaldo go, he will also have a much better feel of what the other bigger names in the squad feel in regards to the future strength of the side.

Rooney and Ronaldo are the players you can use to lure others to the club. The chance to play with such attacking players.

Fletcher, Nani, Park, Scholes and Giggs wouldn't lure Hibbert from Everton ;) (sadly)

I think with liverpool the 'lie' was that new owners were around the corner, silver lining and all that (.. and Roy :( ).

With your owners .. its .. err, Well, interest keeps going up. Have fun.

well yep 'the interest keeps going up' would certainly be an example of a lie when talking about a fixed yield bond but I don't think that's strictly relevant.

so go on then sherlock. why wouldn't Gill just lie as well if that's what Liverpool did? Is it his inherent honesty?

I was joking about the lieing. He obviously told the truth and couldn't give decent assurances that players were coming in or decent quality. Fair play he told him they couldn't invest to match his ambitions, so he's off. Elementary my dear Watson.

It's not a case of trying to sneak in false revenue and getting away with it using loopholes. UEFA will go through club accounts and verify what is genuine and what isn't, if it's made up it doesn't count towards their total. It's not hard to see when somebody is trying to cheat their way around rules, especially in accounting which has to be tracked.

They dont have to sneak in false revenue. They will just be able to do everything exactly by the book but in inventive ways.

Is property not an option?

Until these laws are in place and are tested, we'll never know how easy it will be to get around.

There are far bigger clubs than City that fall short of meeting Uefa's guidelines and I'm far from convinced that Uefa will block any club of any note competing in Europe.

Just been reading about Barca...and they have some serious money problems...failed to pay wages last year a few times :/, reported big losses last year, are UEFA really going to kick them out?
