Rooney - 2 B Sold

Just been reading about Barca...and they have some serious money problems...failed to pay wages last year a few times :/, reported big losses last year, are UEFA really going to kick them out?

they're projected to hit it by 10million this year. so they scrape inside but can't spend much money. There's something I can dig up about Barca as well if you like. Apparently they're suing their laporta or something for financial mismanagement.

Suddenly Rooney is a unloyal chav and a disgrace off the pitch while Giggs is a loyal hero. A player that was always being linked through his agent to Italy anytime his deal got close and was not a saint off the pitch.
.

Giggs may not have been a saint off the field (he has always had full respect from his peers on the pitch, and is fully deserved - another thing WR could learn from)

Huge presumption that Giggs was ever tempted and it wasnt just media speculation (or a dodgy agent)

Also Giggs learnt by his personal mistakes and never repeated them - or in your book are you allowed no mistakes at all?

Whether Giggs has been effective in every match may be debatable for sure, but he always put in 100% effort

All three reasons why Giggs has always deserved to be a Man Utd legend and will continue to be (apart from only ever playing senior football for one club) and yet WR has failed all three in the last few weeks/months

Completely different situations

There are far bigger clubs than City that fall short of meeting Uefa's guidelines and I'm far from convinced that Uefa will block any club of any note competing in Europe.

Are City "a club of any note"? Thats the question :)

tut don't be so harsh.

He's just ambitious.

I mean ok ok on Sunday the 'leaks' talked about the irrevocable breakdown of his relationship with Ferguson and obviously the whole 'injury' thing. It couldn't have been that when public/fan opinion was seen to swinging against him he came out with a statement about 'ambition' a few hours before the players who actually want to be at the club were due to take the field. In which he talked about his debt to Ferguson and laid the blame on the Glazers which he knows some fans would bite upon. That couldn't be a PR move could it??

----------------VDS---------------

----Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra----

Obertan/Bebe - Fletcher - Anderson/Carrick - Nani

--------Berbatov - Hernandez--------

.

Will never happen - as already pointed out far too attacking than has been seen in years (and arent Nani and Obertan on the wrong wings - Obertan is usually on the left - or he was last season, and Nani prefers the right, although I missed the game tonight so who knows)

I really think we have seen the best of Rio - If he ever plays 10 consecutive senior first games again I will be very surprised

you're allowed to invest in long term infrastructure as much as you like. nothing is stopping anyone increasing revenues.

Not really that simple though is it. Why would anyone invest in a clubs infrastructure without results on the pitch? You're talking about very slow, gradual build up. Slow gradual build up post 2012 whilst all the other super clubs are busy solidifying their position at the top.

Still, discussion for another thread. Or not at all. It's only going to go around in circles. I know my opinion on it and that's that. Hopefully City have started early enough to get ourselves in place and secure whilst this is phasing in. Doesn't help any other potential takeover target below us though.

Sorry, are you implying that City could get themselves in a financial position to meet Uefa's guidelines when they're introduced, without the need of 'artificial income'?

The only way that could happen is if you sold off half your squad, including all your top players on the big money.

@Dan: Chelsea for a start.

No idea, they've signed up for it though and it was unanimously supported by the eca (is that the new g12?) of which barca are also members. Though obviously when They signed up for it they didn't know Laporta was apparently fiddling their accounts. I've seen that Rossell has put cost cutting measures in place that assume they'll make semis of cl and that would put them inside boundaries by 10mill according to his projections. I'll find the link to that tomorrow. Chelsea I don't know about, I know they've been pretty tight (relatively) recently and soon the amortisation of earlier purchases will start to drop off... Could that have enough of an effect? I don't know how far off they were before.

No? I've absolutely no doubt at all we'll only meet the guidelines with creative accounting or charging a billion pounds per box. My point is the chances of this happening for another club will be drastically reduced post 2012, and all it serves to do is aid those already built up to have a huge turnover (I don't think this is in the least bit disputable, people are just dragging off point for another shot at City). Oddly enough, I don't think about the implication of everything for *just* my club. We could NEVER have broken into the top four once this ruling goes though. Well maybe not never, but what do you think our chances would have been, really? Pretty effin slim. Probaby hugely reliant on clubs like United driving themselves into the ground first. We needed the cash injection just to catch up, not to overtake. Take away that chance of large kick-start investment and how mobile do you think the league will be?

If anyone cares, or believes it, Mancini has said in a pre-match interview that he believes Rooney will stay at United, there have been no talks to sign him, and that at the moment he's only looking at the summer transfer window, nothing in January. Make of it what you will :)

Just seen Evra interview after the match : 'if one player in the team doesn't trust eachother, he should not play in that team'

Good lad.
