Rooney - 2 B Sold

Got to wonder what the hell City are going to do about the UEFA rules if they keep adding monumental wages to their already huge wage bill (already the wages are higher than their entire turnover).

Rumour has it, City are trying to avoid the new rules by buying a lower league and / or foreign club with no chance of european competition. Buy players for insane cash -> to 'small' club. Loan for 6 months to City (Free) -> Transfer to City (for peanuts).
Only expenditure then is Wages, and with no transfer fees at all, they can spend a lot on them.

Quite sure that UEFA may realise something is amiss when Barnet buy Pato for £80m and then sell him to City for £5m a year later.

Anyway, their wages are already over their turnover, they'd need to double their turnover and stop buying costly players, I doubt either will happen.

Plus they have a lot of big name players now and if he really is ambitious then to win the league/champions league with Man City would be much more of an achievement than to repeat it with Man UTD.

But I think he will probably go abroad rather than stay in the same city.

Easy, the owners can just pump in x amout of millions into the man city bank before the rules come in and pay wages through that. Or use some of their companies to pay some doggy sponsorship deal that will increase the revenue.

Knowing the incompetence of the FA, the ruling won't be applied retrospectively, so they can sign as many expensive players on stupid wages up until the new rules come into force.

The rules are staggered over 5 years to compensate for this, so teams have the opportunity to prepare their squads within a certain budget. Also it has nothing to do with the FA, if you want to play in the UEFA CL, UEFA have to say you can.

About the sponsorships, UEFA have already ruled those out. Any sponsorship deals etc. have to be proportionate to your market rivals, and common sense will be applied. If City are trying to get around the rules, it'll be obvious, and UEFA will say no, they will also review clubs income and approve if it's legit or not.

Seeing as the prostitute strory broke in September and united knew about Rooney leaving in august it has nothing to do with the British press.

I hope this time we learn from the Ronaldo mistake and get cash + players from whoever we sell to. I'd happily take Benzema + Diarra + cash for example. Otherwise the team will suffer massively as we won't be able to bring quality replacements in.

Thats probably the only deal I can see happening, if he were to go to Real.

Yup. Queue the Glazers getting on the phone, "This Rooney lad.. He'll fetch a dollar or two won't he? Brilliant. Put it in the bank. We may let you have it next summer".

Apparently Kaka is finished, got a back injury that he can't heal and is in constant pain whenever he plays. He's definitely lost something from his game, and looks a little slower than he used to.

Wonder how the home fans will treat him at Old Trafford, Arsenal fans still love Fabregas though this is a different situation I suppose, Rooney wants to leave Man Utd whereas Fabregas wants to join Barcelona (semantics, but you get me)
Aye, I was thinking about the difference between the two when I posted earlier. Thing is, everyone's always known Fabregas has wanted to go back to Barcelona, and not for the money. But whilst he's been over here, he's refused to let that desire to leave affect his performances on the pitch.

Meanwhile Rooney has not only failed to explain why he wants to leave, but has also stropped around the pitch so far this season.

because when you are told you are being replaced you may well seek other employment elsewhere?

If he's turned Man U before though he'll probably not want to go there, he doesn't have to go. He could see out his contract if he wishes. I imagine he'll go to Italy.

You know as a Liverpool fan that times are bad when you don't even consider making fun of Manchester United over this.
