Rooney - 2 B Sold

City can now offer £1.3 billion for him, wiping out United's debt :p

LOL they probably would too...heard rumours that Rooney himself has said to the Utd players he wouldnt turn down City if they came in with an offer for him...talk about loyalty eh??.

Well that cant be true because moments after the press conference Rio was posting on his Twitter he knew nothing about it

I cant see how players dont talk about that kind of thing, surely when Ronaldo was with us his team mates must have asked him if he wanted to leave? Likewise Rooney if he hasn't had a falling out with anyone in the squad of done a JT then surely wanting to move clubs is something you'd let slip?

Whole thing just stinks.

There is no loyalty in football. If you are lucky you play for your childhood club. If you don't you'll watch them play on MOTD and deep down cheer when they score against you.

Well tbh who knows, it was just something i read on the paper this morning that hes told some Utd players that he would go to City if they made an offer for him.

Dont get me wrong i dont think thats actually true because if it is, then its very bad showing on Rooneys part plus Fergie said to him from what i read that dont disrespect the club etc...which is fair enough after all the support hes got from Utd as a whole.

I agree with you that the whole thing stinks...theres more to it than meets the eye because like others have said...hes gone from being life long Utd to wanting out so i have a feeling hes had his head turned by City or Real/Barca making offers for him although Real/Barca have said now that they arent interested in him.

If Rooney wants to be considered world class then maybe its in his best interests to go Spain or Italy to play for a few seasons...im not an Utd fan but id absolutely hate to see him play for City or Chelski...its much like Fabregas saying he wants to leave and we sell him to Chelski, City or Utd.

Worrying times for us United fans, VDS, Scholes & Giggs ending their careers and now our only genuine World Class player wanting out seems everything is falling into place for City to dominate in the coming years :(

 Surely at the very least Vidic and Evra are both world class?

"Wayne Rooney can terminate his contract next summer under Fifa transfer regulations that would see Manchester United receive only £5m in return, The Independent can reveal."

It won't happen and if it does, Utd will fight it in the courts.

It was reported last season that a group of top European clubs were funding some lower league clubs legal fees in their battle with a player over this rule.

Everyone's saying it's because his head has been turned by money/city offers but he would definitely get a very competitive wage at man u because of how important he is to them. Maybe he just feels that man u doesn't match his ambitions? They don't seem to be buying top quality players and he's seen the likes of ronaldo and tevez sold off... Combine that with their debt and maybe he feels man u might be going through an arsenal phase where they won't win much for the next few years...

In their respective positions they may be amongst the best but lets face it it's not your defenders that generally are your match winners.

When we lost Ronaldo although a great player we had the potential in Nani and what turned out to be a good player in Valencia to fill the void leaving Rooney our star player if/when he goes we'll be without one stand out player. I'd say Rooney is the difference between us being title challengers to being a top 4/5 club and with Scholes & Giggs on their way out we could struggle to maintain even that!

Worrying worrying times, just hope it can be resolved because like I said what makes the least sense is if Rooney doesn't even have a club he wants to join i.e. Ronaldo/Real

Can anyone else see City bidding and Ferguson being overruled by the Glazers then Fergie walking as a result?

Whether he walks or not, I don't know but I can certainly see the Glazers taking the decision out of his hands.

Rooney's nothing more than an asset to them and if it's a case of £30m now (for example), £20m in the summer or nothing the following year, we all know what decision they'll come to.

I believe I mentioned something about a Glazer phonecall in one of these threads, yes. Though that was more to do with what happens to the money you get from his sale. I.E, not a fat lot bar debt repayments. Would definitely be in your interest to try and engineer some sort of player swap deal. Bit harder for the Glazers to immediately bank them then.
