Havnt read this thread since my last post. But im going to say it again anyway.
Fact - Torres and Reina are very unhappy.
Fact - They informally asked about leaving the club. Regardless of what Roy / the club says.

Is this going to convince them to stay? not likely.

And whilst im ranting!
67 points from a possible 249 in all of Roy's away games, ever.

This has probably been pointed out but

CHANGE THE DAMN TITLE OF THE THREAD

The fact that his name is spelt wrong really irritates me :o

Now I will let you pool fans get on with lamenting the downfall of your team :p

My 'support' of Hodgson has been waning for quite a while now and I've been toying with the idea that keeping him until the summer might be the best thing the club can do, but not after today.

Any support for Hodgson that I had is well and truly gone. From the moment I saw how we were lining up today I knew exactly what the outcome would be. We've gone away to Wigan and away to Stoke and set up as if we're facing Barcelona. Stoke were always going to bombard us with long balls and throw-ins. Sitting back and allowing them to knock the ball into our box time and time again was suicide. No matter how well we defended, the amount of times the ball was coming into our box, it was inevitable that they're scramble a goal eventually.

The club has been in a mess for some time now and the likes of Torres and Reina - some of the best players in the world in their positions - have shown loyalty to us (a club they have no ties to) and we're repaying them with this sort of football?

Torres could join Barca and feed off the likes of Xavi, Inieista and Messi. Instead he's isolated up front on his own feeding off hopeful punts, while getting a battering from the likes of Shawcross and Huth.

I thought the club could move forward now H&G have gone, unfortunately we've got a new obstacle in Hodgson.

The other night I was thinking that he reminded me a bit of Houllier. The style of play and system's are very similar. But after watching Villa play Utd today, it's clear Houllier's nothing like Hodgson.

Villa played with great width and played at a high tempo, nothing like we used to play under Houllier and when you think about it, it's clear as to why. Back in Houllier's days we were a counter-attacking team. We had the likes of Heskey who could win long balls, and Owen thrived off all the flick ons and knock downs. We were playing to our strengths. At Villa, with the likes of Young, Downing, Agbonlahor and Albrighton, the players are suited to a higher tempo, open game so that's how Houllier's setting the team up

I don't want to come across as rude to Hodgson but considering the damage he's doing to the club, it's difficult. He's just an old man that has his style of playing/managing and he's trying to force it onto a club and group of players that it clearly doesn't suit, and he won't change.

Take Fernando Torres for example - excellent against Chelsea at Anfield, but completely isolated at Stoke. Did Hodgson honestly believe the Spaniard could turn countless long balls into goalscoring chances? Against Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth?!

Torres never had a kick, but it was hardly his fault and he must have been upset with the way his side were instructed to set up - the poor bloke never stood a chance.

Most bizarre of all is that Hodgson does not appear to see any great problem. He declared himself happy with the performance in the derby defeat at Goodison last month and was similarly unperturbed by the showing at Stoke, claiming "I thought we did very well for 55 minutes."

In 6 seasons in the Premier League, Hodgson has won a total of 11 away games :o

There's is some cause for optimism though; NESV are reportedly meeting with Hodgson early next week.

Hopefully they'll have the guts to make the decision that needs to be made. We'll win the home game against West Ham (or so I think) but it can't disguise how hopeless he is away from home.

We'd probably do better with Gary Neville as manager, and he wouldn't even pick a goalkeeper the little git.

If he's not gone by the morning of the 24th I fully expect him to be gone after we play Spurs away in the afternoon. I can't see anything other than our heaviest Premiership away defeat if Hodgson sticks to his tried and trusted methods of letting the home team beat us.

I wouldn't worry too much, after the January transfer window when you've offloaded lightweights like Torres and got in some good solid, workman players like Carlton Cole that know how to hold the ball up for a 0-0 away draw, you'll be comfortably reaching mid-table each year :p

"I don't see why it should give us enormous reason to doubt what we are doing"

"We are talking about two or three games in a season" - Roy Hodgson

Well there you have it, its only 2 or 3 games that we've been poor and to think that people said Rafa was delusional :)

The fact they seem to be shying away from any January transfer promises makes me think they're trying to be diplomatic and low-key about actually not wanting to give Hodgson any money to waste, since they don't intend on him being here for the long-term.

I think they're also a little apprehensive about making any strong statements or actions so soon after coming in to the club whilst they're still taking everything in and trying to fully understand the fanbase, we've seen what happens when ownerships start making bold claims prematurely, NESV are smarter than that, and it's unlikely they could make the changes they want mid-season whilst most potential candidates are pre-occupied, so I'm not particularly worried about the lack of such actions coming out yet, as I can completely understand from NESV's position why it's not realistic right now.

I could even see them not making a move until the end of the season, but if Hodgson is still here by the 11/12 season, I'll be astonished.

For the good of the club, the fans and ultimately their investment, he simply needs to go. Who would Liverpool fans be happy with to come in at this stage of the season?
