Yeap, as an Arsenal fan it's a horrible thought wishing to cash in on the club's main striker but if he can't maintain a run then he's wasted in the treatment room for half a season. If the record speaks for itself then issues like wages also come into effect. Like van Persie, Torres is probably one of the highest paid at the club, it'd be prudent to get rid.

You're right in the first half... A bad decision for Liverpool, and yes, he is injured but for Benayoun, he's left a club currently in the relegation zone and joined arguably the best team in the premiership. He's not a certain first team member, but few players in Chelsea are... he's played a reasonable number of matches and is likely to win the premier league with his team... Do you seriously think he would be happier at Liverpool who are realistically going to end up well below the top 4?

Now in my experience in watching Football since I was very small (and that was a long time ago!) countless players have joined Chelsea, gotten a few games then maybe a few subs appearances and then moved on after realising they're little more than squad players who will only get a game in the Carling Cup, the reserves and if half the squad has been ruled out because of injury or suspension.

Shaun Wright Phillips. Scott Parker. Steve Sidwell. Damien Duff. Wayne Bridge. Players that believed Chelsea have some sort of loyalty towards their players or that they were good enough to be picked ahead of others. There's others that have moved on to other clubs where they've said they're much happier as they're playing week in, week out and are more often than not first choice. Winning championships and other medals is great, but when you've only played 30 minutes in one game when you're already 3-0 up or come on for the last 6 minutes of a semi final and sat on the bench for most of the season, how 'great' does it feel? The Lure of money is strong, but the lure of playing regularly is far higher for a professional footballer. Liverpool have sold several world class players, replaced them with other players which are so far from world class I struggle to imagine them getting games for the other 'top four' clubs and still have some players who just can't cut it. I also heard Milan Jovanavic is looking for a move in January out of Liverpool. I'd imagine he thought he was joining a team that would be pushing for a Chamopions League place, not fighting against relegation. (I know it's early!)

I know, for crying out loud you have Blackpool at Anfield tommorrow. Three points and a lovely rosey performance for sure.

Says a lot really that Gerrard's been rested for it though. Morale must really be at a low.

Hahahahahahaha.

For me time is running out for Roy.

An article that sums up how Liverpool fans feel.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2010/oct/04/roy-hodgson-liverpool

'Negative tactics home and away, new signings looking out of their depth or played out of position (£5m Christian Poulsen and £11.7m Raul Meireles respectively) and poor individual contributions from the likes of Fernando Torres and Glen Johnson have not given the impression of a steady pair of hands. There have also been several PR errors of astonishing naivety. Dismissing the Spirit of Shankly and those whose love for Liverpool is now an exercise in protest and business studies as "a group of people" was one way of alienating the hardcore.'

We weren't a mid-table side last season despite being without our best player for the majority of the season yet we are now even though he's been fit for the majority of the season so far

Didn't Liverpool finish 7th last season? Is that not near enough mid table?

To be honest I dont know who has been Hodgson signings and who hasn't but despite my pre-season predictions Cole has looked a shadow of the player he once was but that may be due to being suspended for 3 games following the opener against Arsenal and obviously his recent injuries. Poulsen has looked very poor but I'm pretty sure Liverpool were linked with him as Mascherano's replacement during Rafa's stint so again not sure if he's been a Roy signing or not either. Meireles looked good against us though and Konchesky who's played against us twice now this season has looked pretty solid in both games so if it turns out that only 2 of the 4 summer signings have been Hodgson signings then they've not been bad ones IMO.

Liverpool have had some bad results no doubt but lets not kid ourselves that these kind of things didn't happen under Benitez as well, wasn't it last season they lost at home to Reading?

To me Liverpool are in the same mess they were before it's just a tiny bit worse now because a new manager is having to bed in, I doubt the results would have been massively different had Rafa been in charge and I'm still of the opinion that it's his fault that the squad looks as poor as it does now anyway.

Contracts for Jovanovic and Wilson were agreed before Rafa left, Cole's anyone's guess but Konchesky, Meireles , Jones and most importantly Poulsen are all down to Hodgson.

That doesn't mean he was Hodgson's signing though. There are other people at the club.

Poulsen was only mentioned because Juventus were in for Alonso, so he was a makeweight.

Hodgson rates him highly as he practically 'found' him, the fact he has started pretty much every game is testament to that.

What I don't understand is that every Fulham player interviewed said that he spent a lot of time on organisation and patterns of play. Yet the games I have seen we look unorganised and totally lost.

How long did it take him to get Fulham working together properly?

In my opinion he never really did, but others will disagree. He won the LMA award and they won 1 game away from home in the league, token gesture or what...

They did fairly well at home and in the Europa though...

Yeah they were in the top 10 for home form just about. They scored a goal a game on average for the whole season, in the league.

They did do well in Europe, they looked up for pretty much every game.

He is and will always be a journeyman manager in my opinion, he seems a like-able guy which I think gets him through.

I willing to give him the benefit of any doubt and back him while he is at Liverpool, but I was not convinced when we signed him.

Sorry chaps but I dont buy that a player who was linked with while the old manager was in place just so happened to be a target of the new manager
Linked to by who? The article you posted was just some random opinion from a journalist and you seem to be using that as proof that Rafa wanted him :o

It just seems like another attempt to deflect all blame for the mess we're in from Hodgson back to Rafa.
