RRS takes out Bikers in NYC!

I don't see how you can say that.

Maybe they were acting like idiots but to run one down and then make a run for it, running over other bikes in the process? Come on.

I don't know how things are in 'Merica though. Maybe bikes are viewed in a different light there.

The bikers surrounded his car and started acting like idiots, one tried to brake test him and he hit him, intentionally? Who knows.

The bikers then go nuts and surround his car. Given he had his wife and 5 year old child in his car, I think most of us would have done the same to protect our family if we felt they were in danger.

On a bikers forum? Watch the video.

If I had some angry bikers coming at it me, with missus and child in the car, all because some idiot biker PURPOSEFULLY braked into my bonnet I'd happily mow the lot down.

Good for you. And I hope you would enjoy your prison time.

I agree that the bikers were being foolish. Running from the scene of a potentially fatal accident just isn't on though.

As I said before though, this is 'Merica and I think bikes are viewed differently there to here in Blighty.

He wasn't running from the scene though!

He thought his family was in danger! Would sort of defeat the object if he tried to get away then thought "Oh let me stop and see if that guy was ok and get surrounded by the bikers I was just trying to escape from again"

Obviously missed the bit where one tried to gain access to the car and then a couple of them smashing their helmets through the window later on. Obviously to ask if they had a minute to talk about Jesus.

That was after he ran off, running several of them over in the process.

Maybe I'm just weird but I don't see a large group of bikes as scary or intimidating.

It's not just bikes, it's confrontation which is viewed differently. When I lived there, I had someone show me their concealed carry pistol because they perceived I was standing too close to them at a cash machine. People have guns and are prone to rather rash levels of self defence, to the point of offence. I think to some degree that tips over.

I'm not trying to defend it. Just repeating what I read on another forum.

However, as I said above. Idiots or not. To run one down and then make a run for it is just....

You got kids?

You're surrounded by idiots on bikes weaving in and out of lanes, then they start getting aggressive and trying to get into the car which according to reports has your wife and child in...

Problem is with bikers when theres enough of them they think its perfectly acceptable to create what is essentially a rolling roadblock, weaving around the road with no care as to whats going on around them...

You've watched the end of the video yeh? That's why that many people angrily coming at you is scary. Nothing to do with them being bikers, he has an angry mob after him. Do you have kids? If you do you must be able to see where we're coming from? I'd happily do time for the safety of my boy.

Non bikers do, especially if they have had problems with bikers in the past!

Hell, the amount of times I've met idiots on bikes makes me nervous when any biker starts to act even remotely odd around me on the road.

I've been in a situation when (fortunately only one biker) I've had a biker punching my window, for what I could only believe to be me catching him up on a twisty road.

Rightly or wrongly, I've had enough "experiences" and witnessed enough stupidity with bikers that I generally tar them all with the "idiot" brush until they prove me wrong.

OK, let's flip this around. Let's replace the motorcycles with bicycles and replay the same accident.

Still seem sane to run them over to try and escape?

Whether they are on motorcycles, bicycles, unicycles or pogosticks, if they look like they are surrounding me and trying to intimidate me or it looks like a dangerous situation, if I have my family in the car, I'm doing whatever it takes to get them out of danger

Yes.

Stop defending bikers just because they're bikers. This is about a large angry mob, pinning someone in a corner with only one option to protect his family. Drive.

Well no because you can easily drive away from a bicycle. You will never outrun a bike on the road.

It looks like the biker rolled off the throttle and wasn't watching the car, also doesn't even look like he went down after the touch. So a bunch of bikers stop and start dismounting walking towards your family and that's not scary of intimidating?

No, but that's a completely different scenario, typically a cyclist isn't padded and helmeted up, and in the eventuality that I needed to meet one face to face, I'd feel far less intimidated.

If the cyclists were to start attacking me and my family, then i'd take some kind of action, even if that did involve "reasonable" force.
