RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

Yes like I said, the game took like 1-2 hours to pre load textures, if you play during this time instead of waiting and letting it finish, it has to load them in mid game, thats user error. If you wait and let it finish it runs perfectly. Yes the devs could have chosen a different way for it to work, but they did not, so complain about their choices, not the way the game runs, because like I said, user error.
No shader compilation was done before I started the game and it took about 20 minutes on my system.
Even on my laptop it took way less than 1-2 hours it took for you (around 35-40minutes).

So there's more bugs on Nvidia cards than AMD cards?

I jest.

But it does amaze me how ports often have so many bugs, considering most of the development has already been done, the only place the attention needs to be placed is in the port itself shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to place a few developers to run through it, considering the development bedget has already been returned and profitable at least for TLOU.

Port devs is iron galaxy, the PC arkham knight team, say no more.

I let the shader complete before running the game , it takes around 20 - 30 mins what are you running that takes 1-2 hours lol

Dude probably has a completely potato system, no wonder he's always moaning about the prices :D

I think they have a 12700K. But the prices are annoying if people held of from FOMO during the pandemic, only to be stung with this set of douche moves from Nvidia/AMD. Also remember, just before the pandemic Nvidia did Turing, and only partially redeemed it with the Turing refresh. Then Turing followed after at least a year of the lifespan of Pascal prices being jacked up by mining.

Edit!!

If you game at qHD an RTX3060 would be only twice the speed of a GTX1060 after 5 years for more money:

Now we have trash like the RTX4060 8GB at under £400,which maybe 30% to 40% faster but with a further price increase. But it might have less VRAM.

I never said it was my PC lol, I don't even own the game, I said I have watched the game being played fully on a 3080ti, 12700K and 32GB ddr5, and ran flawlessly, after a long load, about 35 mins from what I recall. The 1-2 hour wait comes from reading Steam reviews, of people WITH potato PCs that refuse to wait for texture load and then run the game with stuttering...

Great way to experience the game watching someone on YouTube playing it from start to finish lol.
Can we see the video.?

Never said it was on youtube either. It was streamed privately via Discord so I could share in the story without playing, if you must know...

And like I said, I know the person IRL who was playing, I helped build his PC so I know the components. Zero issues, zero stutters. OH and just to edit in, this is all the while streaming at 1080p 60fps....only a potato 12700K though...

Yes we call for other visuals to explain (CAT)..

Here you go:

GPUBrandingCores% of Top dieBusBandwidthMSRP
GP102AD1023840100%----2017 had Titan xP release with the full die at $1,200
GP102Titan X358493.3%384 bit480.4 GBps$1,200
GP1021080Ti358493.3%352 bit484.4 GBps$699 (2017 release)
GP1041080256066.67%256 bit320.3 GBps$599
GP1041070192050%256 bit252.3 GBps$379
GP1061060 6GB128033.3%192 bit192.2 GBPs$299

If we add in Pascal as well we get a similar story. 1060 has 33.3% of the the full die shaders and matched the 980. The 1070 is around half the shaders of the full die variant and the 1080 was around 66%. Titan X is a bit better than 4090 but the refresh 1080Ti took that spot at a lower price point and Titan xP took the $1,200 spot in 2017.

If that had been followed you would get something like this.

BrandingCores% of Top DieBusMSRPPerformance
40901638488.9%384 bit$1,5994090
40801228866.67%256 bit$799Between current 4080 and 4090.
4070972852.8%256 bit$599about current 4080
4060614433.3%192 bit$399about 3080 / current 4070

That stack would be in line with the historical stacks and pricing is basically 2000 series pricing which was a bit higher than 3000 series at each tier and allows for inflation / higher costs while not totally screwing the customer.

See I didn't repost the picture! :D

That describes Nvidia very well that word and also Intel in the past, now Intel are well a bit more humble but we will see how long that lasts too..

Nvidia needs a little humble pie too and Karma has a funny way to deal with things as we saw with Intel..

Time will tell as it always does... then grandpa leather jacket man will come out and play how nice he is and giving us all candies with our purchase that they can't sell or compete with a future competitor in the market.. This is why I dislike Nvidia and some companies they behave like narcissists or entitled spoiled kids and sadly to me that behaviour really turns me off.

Sure but we actally need AMD to grow a pair and challenge Nvidia the way they did Intel, right now they aren't.

Maybe Jensen is backhanding Su to keep the distance.. rather fishy the cards are similar prices and similar performance!

Oof..... one does wonder, or maybe AMD really have lost their bottle, upsetting Intel couldn't have been any more daunting than taking on Nvidia.

At least do it with the 7800XT or 7700XT, which ever is likely to be most popular, 7700XT 16GB equivalent to RTX 4060Ti, $379, so what if that's low margin, so long as you're still making a small profit on them and make sure its in plenty supply.

Make sure that if Nvidia want to keep your marketshare depressed its going to hurt for them too, Intel are skint, they are out of money, AMD, you did that to them, you made them fight you and they lost, frankly.

If you want to pick another fight we will see it and we've got your back...
