even with that said I have not the slightest interest in it . 3080 performance for the amount it costs £589 ? isnt that impressive can see it struggling in year or 2 purely on grunt
It needs the frame generation if you are paying 60% more than an RTX3060TI for just over 40% more performance.

And loving every minute of it. The ada gaming experience is a sight to behold. 3080 performance at 180 watts and lower, wow. Did I mention frame gen is a next level game changer?

Hopefully one day AMD will offer similar quality and I'll happily go team red. Until then........

You still bought 2.5 years old performance for nearly 2.5 years old prices whatever way you spin it  and any previous gen you'd have got 20-30% more comparative performance for less money buying at a similar point.

Cat, you would scoff at £200 3080 performance, give it a rest. inflation, more expensive node. Jensen is not running a charity for gamers.
Gamers are not running a charity for foreign owned companies either. I don't exist to prop up a company you look at religiously who makes bigger margins than Big Oil, Big Pharma or Apple. I don't give two hoots what their costs are.

Maybe you should apply to the Church of Scientology. I think you would be a good candidate.

The last of us talked about above, now that I am on a 4090 from a 3080 ti it's pretty clear the engine still needs serious optimisation for higher end hardware.

What I have observed playing today:

1: The game still has random fps dips, it's not as big a deal as what people on lower end CPUs might face though, the CPU use on my 12700KF can reach 77%, which is only a few % shy of the GPU use when DLSS is enabled on the 4090. DLSS off = 99% GPU use.

2: DLSS on vs off makes zero difference to average fps which sits constantly around the 90-100fps mark. The engine just doesn't seem to account for higher end hardware. What you do get with higher end HW is brute force, it just brute forces its way through any optimisation quirks.

Still they fixed most of the major issues like mouse panning stutter and crashes, so there is that.

Here's what it plays like for me at 3440x1440 on the 4090:

Given that my 3080 Ti was getting around the same fps in this game with the same settings, I'm gonna say a 4070 is going to be exactly the same here lmaio.
I have 5800x3D and 4090 FE - on 3440x1440 screen - I got exactly the same average FPS but with some low spikes in the 80's no DLSS, everything maxed up .
The game looks spectacular . DLSS on or off makes little difference for me on the OLED screen anyway- so 4070 with DLSS everything on high / ultra should be absolutely bang on

This conditioning is unbelievable.
Big Oil lost billions early in the pandemic. Big pharma loses billions on failed drugs. So everyone should just accept big Oil profiteering now and big pharma charging more for the NHS. Poor companies make less margins than Nvidia, and as they are privately owned people should suck it up? Right? Well I care as much about their margins as Nvidia,AMD or Intel. Diddly squat.

Nvidia cutting 4070 production for a Month.

Diddums.

That'll work in the long run, you still have to pay for the wafer capacity you ordered, Eventually you have to make the GPU's and sell them to recoup those costs or they will just pile up on top of your mountain of over priced RTX 3000 series, dummy.

Yeah, I am sure this did not occour Jensen or any of the people he employs.

4K8K type comment there bud.

Will the 4070 hold up! :D

12GB required for 1440P. 16GB for 4K

Unreal Engine 5 does not mess about, its a next gen engine and there are A LOT of games coming out on it in the next couple of years.
