It's not expensive for a hobby. Almost everyone can afford £2000 if they put it as a priority. We all buy much more expensive stuff, just for most people gaming is not a priority.
Lol. First world problems :))

Even "first worlders" can't afford to spend that much on a card. And you know what... why stopping at a GPU? Put those prices up for $1000 CPUs, MB, RAM, PSU, $2000-$3000 displays, etc. After all, you only live once! :))

This is my biggest issue with them. I never had an issue if they wanted to milk their top end card like Titan. Please feel free to milk the people who don't mind being milked. But for god sakes offer good value withe the rest of your cards!

Nope, they got so greedy they want to milk everyone!
For that to happen you need real competition. Without competition, paying stupid money for high end cards opens to road for stupid money in the middle and low end market. Every single argument for $1000 card like "i do what I want with my money" and the like, lead to this point.

You've not seen the 4090Ti yet, there's plenty of time to milk their top end card. :D

I suspect both GPU manufacturers truly believe they're offering good value for money, probably because they've spent so much time listening to their own hype that they actually believe a graphics card on its own is equivalent or even better than an entire games console.

Ah fair, sounds like £640 is a good price then vs 4070ti, can get them send hand now for under £500 not a pad price really for top of the line previous gen. IMO.

Interesting in how much AMD will put the 7800XT out for.
AMD might drop product support quicker than Nvidia- I believe there was a controversy regarding Fury cards having their support dropped after 6 years?

Yeah they stopped driver releases after 7 years. A bit of a non issue though really because it's not like the card suddenly became unusable and most people don't keep a card for that length of time. (He says with a Vega 56 coming up to 6 years old :p)

It's got a metallic detail and generates frames for you and everything*

How can it not be worth at least £700 then?

* Title may or may not be inspired by certain Apple launch thread titles on these forums.

If by some miracle $600 translates to £500 I'd probably pick up that FE. I think it's going to be £600 though.

Unless UK retailers plan on selling at a loss it is never going to be £500.

On a different note, nvidia's positioning has changed a bit from past gens.

Normally the 70 card matches the 80Ti from the previous gen (or gets close).

3070 ($499) ~ 2080Ti ($999)
2070 ($499) ~ 1080Ti ($699)
1070 ($379) ~ 980Ti ($649)

This time it will match a level below which is quite a big drop.

4070Ti ($799) ~ 3080Ti ($1199)
4070 ($599) ~ 3080 10GB ($699)

I would guess 4060 Ti at $449 (matching 3070Ti) and and 4060 at $399 (matching 3070). In TFlops these cards look close.
