$450 for 8gb, tough sell.

It's as tough a sell as the 3070 Ti was at $549 or 3070 at $499. I think they'll be called 1080p cards (or 1440p with DLSS, so underlying res really 960p).

Remember Nvidia said the 4070 Ti was a 1440p card, no doubt they'll say the same for the 4070.

That’s a disgrace as the 4070ti costs £700-900 and should be a flagship not a mid range card. World has gone mad!

Unless UK retailers plan on selling at a loss it is never going to be £500.

--------------------------------------------

On a different note, nvidia's positioning has changed a bit from past gens.

Normally the 70 card matches the 80Ti from the previous gen (or gets close).

3070 ($499) ~ 2080Ti ($999)
2070 ($499) ~ 1080Ti ($699)
1070 ($379) ~ 980Ti ($649)

This time it will match a level below which is quite a big drop.

4070Ti ($799) ~ 3080Ti ($1199)
4070 ($599) ~ 3080 10GB ($699)

I would guess 4060 Ti at $449 (matching 3070Ti) and and 4060 at $399 (matching 3070). In TFlops these cards look close.
Cards are price at their performance level with frame gen on now and in Nvidia's warped reality every game has frame gen, They don't even bother showing you raster performance anymore and I expect it'll be the same when they launch the 4070 next week.

Yeah I was thinking a something a bit similar but for slightly different reasons. Inflation adjusted 3060 introductory official pricing would put the 4060 around $379 and that would let them advertise that it's still under $400 and then I think the 4060 Ti would be somewhere in the $449-499 region.

I don’t think anyone will buy the 4060ti with 8gb vram.

Yeah it totaly gone to hell!
Time to upgrade from my 2060S, but I dont want to cash out to an overpriced 4070 eaiter - as it seems to be!
And 12 GB is the absolute lowest I will go.

Should be illegal to put out a POS 8 GB gpu these days or only for the Extreme lowest end!
Atleast the 4070 will have 12 GB vram!

FC6's fault.

I think it should be ~£500 if it barely overclocks above stock at all.

£550-£600 if it overclocks extremely well.

The odd thing about it is the tdp gap in-between the RTX 4070 TI and the 4070. 285w vs 200w, both using GDDR6X. If they could have clocked it much higher, I suspect they would have done that already for the stock clocks - Or, they decided not to because a competitive product from AMD is nowhere to be seen yet.

On average, Guru3D got around a 7% performance boost when the RTX 4070 TI GPU and memory was overclocked, so perhaps we'll see something similar for the RTX 4070.

Presumably, the temps will be even lower than the RTX 4070 TI also.
