RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

The LE (when it’s back in stock) is 370 which is a bit better. The performance is inconsistent, but £370 for a 16GB card with performance between a 3060-3070 isn’t too bad. The 750 is a much better buy though IMO, only 8GB and reduced specs but not a huge loss in performance and at £250 it’s very competitive.

6700/6750 are good cards, and I’ve been contemplating one. I particularly wanted the strix just for the aesthetics but at £440 you are ‘only’ £140 from a 4070 and then it goes back in to this merry go round I’ve been having in my head for the past week about what’s the best card to buy haha.
Wait for the 7800XT, that way have more options, and a reason to procrastinate more.

For newer buyers its relatively OK,as your RTX2080 was £700 IIRC,and its half the price with more VRAM.So if you are upgrading from a slower card its OK.

But the issue is if you have anything better there is no decent value option to upgrade to.
I am on a 1070 and the 4070 does call out to me and holding myself back as hoping there may be something better for my money or prices drop.

Oh wow. That was quick.

It's still a ~£400 card though so....
Inflation had ended the £400 mid range GPU.
£400 in 2020 is around £500 today.

You can add £80 to a £100, on 2020 prices to account for inflation and prices today but Nvidia and AMD still have room to lower costs and make money as seen with the drop in 4070 pricing.

Question, if you were going to buy a 4070, which card would you buy?

I like the Zotac GeForce RTX 4070 Twin Edge OC, slightly above MSRP, but 5 year warranty, 8pin power connector, no extra cables or adapters needed, performs well and has a distinctive look.

Them: "We have to raise prices as materials and/or everything from our suppliers is more expensive!"

*Posts record profits*

Consumers: "Wait, but you said..."

If that's truly the case then there's no reason to buy a new GPU because if I'm not going to get more transistors, and by extension more performance, there's no point in buying a new GPU.

e: Plus the analogy used by Bug One was so deeply flawed it was laughable, what would be more analogous would be something like HP or 0-60 times.
New Architectures will have more performance just not the large leaps we are used to anymore, so less value in upgrading from the previous generation.

Have to buy the 4070 now. :D

Does anyone know how the Asus Dual OC version compares to the Gigabyte Windforce OC?
Most reviews use the 4070 FE as the baseline and the Asus 4070 Dual OC is about 1-2% better as is the Gigabyte.

There are plenty of reviews on YouTube for both cards, but they all say the same roughly, not much in it, between FE and AIB cards.

In regards to the power connector some cards have max power consumption at 200W regardless whether 12v or 8pin.
Some of the 12v connectors will go up to 240W, though they are at the £700 end of pricing, but some are 215W, though most 200W.

Getting the cheapest card would not see any performance loss over the more expensive, and any gain is minimal. making the extra cost pointless.

Wait, the RX7900XT is now cheaper than an RTX4070TI?
Even the Sapphire Nitro has dropped, a lot, £799.99.

Reference model, £749.99.

What if AMD release 2 versions of the RX 7800, an XTX with 20GB VRAM, and, an XT with 16GB VRAM, both with 256bit Bus.

Given they know they cannot compete with Nvidia on feature set, but VRAM they do out do Nvidia.
