RTX 4070 12GB, is it Worth it?

I finding interesting that the 7900XTX is selling so much better that 4080 in this retailer. I mean for only 10% more money the 4080 offers so much more compared to 7900XTX. (DLSS, FG, beter RT, lower power consumption)
If the list is from the German store, Mind Factory, then it maybe because a 7900XTX is a lot cheaper than a 4080, as a whole in the UK and Europe.
On OCUK, you can get an AIB 7900XTX card for £1049, with the most expensive at, £1300, whereas the cheapest 4080 is, £1170, and the most expensive is, £1560.

So, we're looking at something like a 15% price increase from last gen 70 series cards for a ...% increase in performance. Anyone want to take a stab at what that performance increase will be? Because if it's not more than 15% the 4070 will be DOA.
WCCFTech, say the 4070s theoretical compute power, based on information to hand, should be the same as a 3080, so around 30% performance increase over the 3070.

My concern is the Memory bus is reduced from 256bit, 3070, to 192bits on the 4070, and the impact this will have, but the L2 cache on the 4070 is a lot higher, 36MB, compared to 4MB on the 3070, so may offset the lower bus.

Appears the 4070 will come in 2 versions, one with a standard 8 pin PCIe power connector and one with the new 12v power connector, and appears the 8 pin version will be the "cheap" version, around MSRP, while the 12v connector version will be premium, £700 plus.

Appears there will be a 2 tier plan for the 4070, to allow AIBs to be able to charge more and provide a better card if you can afford it.

The best word to describe the 4070 is "Meh".

It's a solid but underwhelming card that is as per standard Nvidia pricing just a bit to much for what is offered.

Yet it is the cheapest next gen card there is so for the moment for the mid range gamer it's the only option.

If AMD can squeeze out 16GB/256bit at £600-650 with comfortably over 3080 performance, they'll almost certainly have my money, but I'm not holding my breath (just my wallet!)
You never know and rumours have it that AMD are taking there time on the 7800XT and below as they want to fix the issues seen in the 7900's.

You can already buy a 7900xt for the same price as the upper end AIB 4070 cards and while the XT uses a lot more power it’s much faster. If AMD shaved even £50 or £100 off the price of it they would have the card to buy right now .
The 7900XT may drop in price again, say £750, and if AMD do, then it could be the go to card for many people who wnat more performance than a 4070 class card but not the price of a 4080.

According to this review OCUK is charging over the MRSP of this Zotac card, so if anything they should have room to come down, (unless the reviewer has got the price mixed up with the trinity),

Price is about the same at other sites.

So, there are more than a couple of RTX 4070 variants that use the new 16 pin high power connector, according to specs on techpowerup's database.

Seems like they could've just required the connector on all models for simplicities' sake.

Is 240w the max board power of any RTX4070 model released so far?
Having the options of an 8pin or 12pin connector, means there is the option to charge extra for the 4 more pins.
