Ruddy inconsiderate cat owners...

no, but your rights don't superceed mine either

firstly, there's no need for personal insults (shot yourself in the foot about suspensions there)
secondly, no one has ever told me my cat has crapped all over their garden, if they did then I would indeed apologise and say what Behemoth said, bitching on a forum about it won't help will it

I also agree, thread close
As cats often get put out at night when people are going to bed and cats are relatively inactive during the day being somewhat nocturnal in their habits it is pretty hard for a person to know whose cat it is that crapped in their garden last night.
That makes it difficult to go to the neighbour and say "sort your cat out".
That doesn't stop the need for cat owners to have a serious think about how their cat owning actions affect their neighbours.

You have every right to own a cat, you have no right whatsoever to let it crap in my garden.

I suggest the OP tries the granules or the prikkastrip. Both of which do of course cost you money to protect your garden.

Also are you sure it's cat crap? My understanding of them is that they like to bury their crap?!?! (How civilized of them :p :D )
Sure it's not fox poop instead?!?

If you don't understand the fundamental difference between a cat and intelligent human being taking a crap on someone’s garden then I give up
Absurd and totally useless parallel :o

Intelligent? Human? How very dare you :p

There is little difference. How is it different to me crapping on your lawn? You let your cat crap on my lawn and tell me I just have to deal with it. You (the intelligent human) can't see the problem. So If I (another intelligent human) don't see the issue with crap on your lawn then why shouldn't I use your lawn as a toilet? The issue is the crap and who is ultimately responsible for it being there, not who put it there. If you did not havea cat then your cat wouldn't crap on my lawn as it would not exist.

I take exception to being considered inconsiderate because I have 2 cats.
OK then have you ever considered how your neighbours might feel about your cats crapping in their gardens? If so then did you offer them cash to protect thier gardens or did you offer to clean it up or have you even ever mentioned it to a neighbour - that you are aware that your cat might be pooping in their borders?
If not then inconsiderate is the correct term. Until this thread I had never considered it either which makes me inconsiderate too.

@ the OP - I think you are confused (grumpy old man styles). Cats don't randomly crap on lawns, they bury their business. You need to get a bit better informed before sounding off.

It's my feeling that you're just stirring.

If you think you have such a huge problem stop whingeing and do something about it: http://www.deteracat.co.uk/index.htm

Nope, never thought about it, so yes, I am guilty of not thinking of the consequences of cat ownership. However all my neighbours past and present have also had cats or dogs (equally relevant as they keep cats out and cause incessant nuisance)

I wouldn't volunteer the information, a lot of folk would happily take advantage of your consideration and take you for a very expensive ride, also given the large number of cats in the UK or here for that matter I would end up cleaning 20 poops a day for my 2 cats. In my experience (My nearest neighbour is a farm at the moment) the majority of neighbours do what the hell they want and when they want with absolutely no consideration towards their neighbours, amongst that a cat poop in the flower borders is in my opinion a very trivial matter indeed. If I had neighbours who were equally considerate then I may elect to show the same consideration towards them, however, so far that has never been the case. As I have said before, if a neighbour approached me in a polite fashion about the issue I would try to help reach a solution, but I am not going to offer a solution to a problem which may not be of my causing.

No they don't always. During my life I have had 4 cats. I have one now. They do not ALWAYS bury it. Usually they do, but not on grass or hard ground.

Only in the rarest of situations. I also have had many cats and have two now (well my parents have them now) and I have never seen them randomly crap on a lawn - see them all the time in the garden but never on the lawn. I think last count it'll be seven cats since I was 3. I think they are great animals.

I don't think it is all that rare to be honest. I have a 6 foot fence all around my garden and I don't think any foxes have been in there, yet sure enough theres a poop on a pile of earth (not buried). I spent 4 years in gibraltar (where there isn't any earth and cats are plentiful) and there was cat poop everywhere.
If the ground is soft enough they'll bury it, if it is not then they won't.

People let their cats out so they can goto the toilet. If you kept your cat in all day it would toilet all over your house.

Cat owners - you would'nt let that happen ,so the OP has a very valid point. You are all inconsiderate. Keep you cats in and let them poo all over you house. Hmmm...I don't think so !

That's completely sensible because nobody ever invented the litter tray.

If thats the case then, why dont cat owners keep thier cats in all the time then ? Because, they dont always use the littler tray ! I dont understand the cat owners mentality, fine to poo in someone garden, but not fine to poo in their own front room...

Do you feel that what your cat does is not your responsibility?

I'm responsible for my cat yes, but I can't follow it around all day long and I'm certainly not going to keep it locked indoors. If you hadn't noticed they're pretty independant creatures.

My cat has a litter tray, but if she soils someones garden, when she's out and about being a cat, then what am I to do? Again, I certainly ain't going to supervise a cats outside time.

Seriously... take a reality check on this: There is no way a cat owner can monitor such an animal all day long. What do you want owners to do? Shove a cork up its behind before it goes out?

Because they choose not to, and I personally don't think it's right to breed housecats. They aren't dogs, after all.

If you can't monitor your cat or ensure that it doesn't crap in other peoples gardens then don't have one.
You want a cat so tough if I don't want it crapping in my garden because your desire for a cat is greater than my right to have a garden that your cat does not crap in?
I think you need a reality check.

Would you accept that excuse from some chav parents whose nasty offspring urinated up your front door? Well he's an independent 5 year old he needed to go, what do you want me to do, monitor his movements or keep him on my property .......
