Ruddy inconsiderate cat owners...

Only in the rarest of situations. I also have had many cats and have two now (well my parents have them now) and I have never seen them randomly crap on a lawn - see them all the time in the garden but never on the lawn. I think last count it'll be seven cats since I was 3. I think they are great animals.

The ones that used to crap in my garden didn't bury anything. They decided the exposed soil all around our sheds and the concrete path to the sheds was all their litterbox and just left it out in the open.

My grandad has had the same problem with them doing it on his lawn in plain sight. They're not as "great" as you make them out to be.

You want a cat so tough if I don't want it crapping in my garden because your desire for a cat is greater than my right to have a garden that your cat does not crap in?

You're inferring that your annoyance of having animal faeces in your garden, trumps someone's right to have a cat.

Cat crap is annoying, but you'll find cat owners will not get rid of their cats because they annoy a few neighbours. Cest la vie. The world is full of annoying things we do to each other, neighbours cats taking a dump is one of them. :)

I don't expect people to stop using mobile phones because their ringtones annoy me day in day out. I don't expect people not to buy chewing gum because I keep treading on it.

OK then have you ever considered how your neighbours might feel about your cats crapping in their gardens? If so then did you offer them cash to protect thier gardens or did you offer to clean it up or have you even ever mentioned it to a neighbour - that you are aware that your cat might be pooping in their borders?
If not then inconsiderate is the correct term. Until this thread I had never considered it either which makes me inconsiderate too.

what exaclty is it you find so wrong with cat crap ? my cats bury it , the neighbours have never complained ,

well one has but hes old and miserable , he moans if the cat just walks across his lawn

Why on earth are you comparing a child to a cat I don't know.
Because I don't see much difference.
Neither you nor your child nor your cat have the right to crap on my lawn.
If you or your child or your cat does so then I have every right to be annoyed about it.
In each and every case it is your responsibility to ensure it does not happen again.
If you can't then don't have a cat.

Attitudes like yours will doubtless cause some people to shoot cats.
As another poster has said a vetinary relative has had to deal with numerous airgun related cat injuries. No wonder some people are shooting them if the owners are as selfish as you.
You are basically saying "I don't care if my cat craps in your garden, tough, not my problem". That is selfish, inconsiderate and likely to put peoples backs up which will doubtless result in your poor cat getting the brunt of it.

Humans have the intelligence, understanding and can be taught not crap in public.
Animals do not.

Do I really have to spell it out to you?

Should people not have kids, down to the fact they annoy people day and night across the country in resturants/shopping centres etc?

Your point about cat poop being annoying is totally valid, nobody enjoys cleaning their lawn, but it's a bit far to suggest nobody should have a cat for that reason. The enjoyment of having a cat far outweighs the few neighbours you may annoy now and again.

Raise your standards then :)
I do expect people not to spit chewing gum on the floor. I do expect them to dispose of it sensibly. I do expect people to turn their phones off in cinemas. I do expect you to consider your neighbours and take appropriate action in regard to your cats crap. I do expect dog owners to clear up after their dogs. I do expect people using public lavatories to not crap all over the floor.
Or should i simply expect everyone to be a selfish self serving **** and become one too just because they might?

I'm not saying that at all. I'm sympathetic towards people who clean their lawns because a cat has crapped on them, but there is no solution.

What do you want cat owners to do? Give away their cats? You obviously don't as you still have several of your bloody own.

Do you *HAVE* to have a cat? is there some reason why you HAVE to have a cat? If not then why should others put up with your cat crap? Could you answer that?

Some people probably should not have kids.
The enjoyment YOU get from owning a cat matters more to YOU than the inconvenience that YOU cause to your neighbours.

I have not suggested that NO-ONE has a cat, just that you take responsibility for it and ensure it doesn't cause neighbours problems. Your right to own a cat doesn't infer the right to crap on other peoples lawns.

No, it simply isn't a big enough issue for me to warrant not following my desire to have a cat.

Which is impossible. You cannot stop a cat from doing what it does naturally unless you lock it inside 24/7.

Yes there is. Infact there are several.

1. Keep your cat indoors.
2. Buy a house with a lot of land like a farm.
3. Don't let your cat out unless it has just used the litter tray.
4. Give your cat away.
5. Don't have cat.
6. Pay for your neighbours to cat proof their gardens.
7. Go round and clean up after your cat - after all you expect your neighbours to clean up after your cat don't you.

Why not? And I have 1 cat (only the third time I've corrected you on that) which is my Wifes cat and until this thread I had not really thought about it.

You have yet to give a sensible answer as to why your neighbours just have to put up with your cats crap. You want a cat.... fine, but why should your neighbours suffer as a result? The only reason is because you are a selfish **** who doesn't care what problems you cause others.

Which is why the OP is 100% correct in saying that you are an inconsiderate and selfish person who couldn't care less about his neighbours or the problems he directly causes them.

1. Keep your cat indoors. - I don't want to deny an animal its freedom. That would be selfish.
2. Buy a house with a lot of land like a farm. - Yeah, because people are going to go off and buy a big expensive rural house just so there cat can poo in peace.
3. Don't let your cat out unless it has just used the litter tray. - What if it goes again later when it's out? Pointless.
4. Give your cat away. - No thanks
5. Don't have cat. I want one
6. Pay for your neighbours to cat proof their gardens. - If a neighbour came and complained, sure
7. Go round and clean up after your cat - after all you expect your neighbours to clean up after your cat don't you. - Unless I dye my cats food, how will I identify which crap was dropped by my cat?

So when will your wife be doing one of the above?

I'll just edit out your answer that you've given me, and answer the question myself thanks. Because the problem is on a small scale. It's a minor annoyance that people have in their daily lives regardless if I have a cat or not. I don't like annoying my neighbours but unless one has a serious issue with it, it's not going to stop me having a cat. In the exact same way I know very well that by doing countless other things in my life that annoy people, isn't going to stop me from doing it.
