Russell Brand.

There are fair more more dangerous people in power and the political Arena than Russell Brand... That's who you should be bashing not a celeb who uses his celeb to open up the DEBATE AND TRY TO WIDEN The blinkered views like I'm reading in this thread...

Get a grip FFS

Russell Brand peacocks that's all...he wants to be noticed while addressing issues ignored by main stream media and the establishment...

Anyone who thinks this is wrong lacks intelligence. Regardless of wether your personally like him or not.

while addressing issues ignored by main stream media and the establishment...

Absolute rubbish! All the media has been on about since the credit crunch is corrupt bankers and their bonuses and corrupt politicians!

What Russell preaches about is absolutely nothing new and nothing we haven't read in tabloid rags years a go.

He didn't bring it to my attention...

Your point?

You said " while addressing issues ignored by main stream media and the establishment...*"

This is just totally not true. We have had bankers and their bonuses and tax evading corporations covered by the papers and news outlets for years and years.

I think it is pretty clear that Russell jumps on current popular political issues and champions a left wing view of them. He has a disgraced former journalist do most if his research and tbh... it isn't as though no one had heard about banking bonuses, austerity, new era estate, firefighter's retirement age, immigration etcetc before Russell decide to pipe up. He did an amusing couple of YouTube clips criticising Fox News - I mean who'd have thought they were a bit shifty and dubious with the truth... thanks for enlightening everyone Russell... such a tough target. Got him a bit if publicity though when they replied to him on TV... he even turned up at their offices and surprisingly (like RBS) wasn't allowed in... definitely not a publicity stunt though he genuinely thought he could just turn up and they'd have a cuppa and a chat about issues.

While I'm sure he does care about these issue some if his approaches/criticisms are overly simplistic - a lot if it is just taking a populist stance and mouthing off a bit... very easy to take that sort of position.

There have been other issues too...He talks about "other stuff"...He took on a group of political and social academics on Radio 4 the other week and wiped the floor with them.

Articulately and professionally.

If his celeb gets other people engaged rather than listening to some boring suit on Question time or newsnight there is no issue for me.

It seems like he just gets hated on irrationally by people who've formed an opinion on him based on what they've read in The Daily Mail or The Sun. I don't agree with all his left wing views personally, but his hearts in the right place and that's more than can be said for the Corporate media who's sole aspiration is selling more newspapers and getting people to buy their sponsors products (oh and what ever Murdoch/the owners personal agendas are).

Nah its mostly been pretty rational... you're welcome of course to call out/disagree with anything you think isn't rather than making pointless generalisations about anyone who isn't a fan of his.

Good lord. I don't even know where to start with this.

Still cannot believe people on here who 'don't get' what Russell is saying..........and are still spouting nonsense, wow the newspapers really have programmed some of you haven't they ?

The newspapers that constantly print articles about Brand? The media outlets that he has humped the editors of? The media that has made him incredibly rich?

So its all a big conspiracy unless they print a nice article about what our darling Brand has done to raise awareness about some things that are less than perfect about capitalism. ...

Ok then..unless you were being sarcastic (which i hope you were).

Not at all sarcastic - you seem to be one of these people obsessed with the man himself, RATHER THAN what he is saying - what do you think about his points?

If you have any form of logic, using common sense and clear thinking, you would have to tend towards agreeing with his points.

No he isnt the 1st person to say it, but he is rapidly becoming heard by everyone, this is the change here.

SO, the banking system in bed with the government and all this 'terrorist' rubbish the leaders are shoving down our throats for their own purposes you think isn't true and you have no thoughts on it?

AGAIN THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE, I am asking you about the points brand is bringing up, I don't care how much money he has, or his hair style, the points he brings up ?

Logic says I have to agree with his points, what say you ?
