Russian airliner missing over Egypt

Obama, gonna remove all boots off the ground everywhere, change blabla, nope.

Cameron, Mr "i get it" well he does'nt, imbedding RAF in USAF to bomb in Syria.

it's like some real game of RISK going on, totally mental.

if Putin was'nt properly attacking ISIS, and just bombing the FSA why would ISIS bomb the plane? if Putin is only bombing USA backed FSA why would ISIS even claim this.

Because ISIS basically attacks everyone who isn't ISIS.

Meanwhile, Putin maintains a stony silence as he grapples with the humiliation:

Grieving together for the victims of the Sinai plane crash, Russians are starting to express bewilderment and frustration that President Vladimir Putin has -- not for the first time -- remained strangely silent on the subject of a national tragedy.

"On Saturday, in Egypt, a Russian plane crashed, killing 224 people," wrote journalist Karina Orlova in a blog for Echo of Moscow radio.

"And we don't see Vladimir Putin all weekend. The public starts to ask – where is Putin? Why is he not expressing condolences? Is he alive? In good health?"

what's this Syria all about? must be some oil or a pipeline?
why would us "westies" even care if it was'nt for £££? right?

The Russian invasion is growing, yet Assad still can't gain ground:

Moscow's military force in Syria has grown to about 4,000 personnel, but this and more than a month of Russian air strikes have not led to pro-government forces making significant territorial gains, U.S. security officials and independent experts said.

Moscow, which has maintained a military presence in Syria for decades as an ally of the ruling Assad family, had an estimated 2,000 personnel in the country when it began air strikes on Sept. 30.

The Russian force has since roughly doubled and the number of bases it is using has grown, U.S. security officials said.

No, it began with a civil war.

We care because this conflict is massively destabilising the region, wreaking havoc on our allies in the area, and causing millions of refugees to flood into Western countries.

Most people stranded since Wednesday should be back by tomorrow:

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has said that "in excess of 20 flights" will bring British holidaymakers back from Egypt on Friday.

Mr McLoughlin said that the "vast majority (of tourists) that should have come back Wednesday, Thursday and Friday... will be back by tonight."

◾ Monarch will operate three "rescue flights" from Sharm el-Sheikh, to Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. It will also operate two scheduled flights to Gatwick and Manchester
◾ EasyJet will operate five special flights, as well as two scheduled flights, and two delayed services from Wednesday
◾ Thomson will also begin returning customers to the UK on Friday
◾ British Airways will be flying customers back to Gatwick on the delayed BA2561 service
◾ Thomas Cook has listed two flights to Birmingham and London Gatwick.

Nothing more on what will follow.

The deed was probably done, I doubt they are going to try their luck twice in the same place. Not this soon anyway, although caution is good

Things are going to get heated now ten fold.

When are we expecting full conclusion?

According to the US media, the BBC have been showing his forces taking making big advances for weeks.

No, it began with a civil war.

Technically it began with a civil uprising that grew into civil war thanks to the west. If it had just been left alone then Assad would have crushed the rebels before ISIS even hit the scene then been able to batter them too.

Putin might be wishing he'd attacked ISIS properly now...

Ignoring the fact he has been, he will regret nothing as his is Christmas for him. He has been telling people that it is only a matter of time before ISIS start targeting Russia (the closest major first world nation to them) and now it's happening so he can say "I told you!" and go HAM on them.

With the great power Russia seems to think it has should it not know a little bit more about its own Aircraft crashing and what not?

Who said they don't or didn't know before the media outlets?

Sounds like it came from the Americans, rather than being something we established ourselves.

More than likely, the US will have unrivalled coverage of the entire region.

We seemingly acted on intelligence we got from a third party (the US). It wasn't our place to further disseminate that information if we weren't given permission to.

Doesn't matter where it came from, the intelligence won't solely have said what the cause was, it would have had more depth as to who, how, when and why and if any of those factors indicated the potential loss of life to UK citizens the UK Govt would have no option to take preventive measures.

Civil war perhaps? You could be right though, I mean surely all those thousands upon thousands of people fleeing the country can't be running from a civil war and persecution. They must be running away from those £ signs and all that oil.

I've been to Egypt twice. Once down the Nile and once to Sinai. Had a wonderful time on both holidays and saw things that you literally cannot see anywhere else in the world.

When are you going to go again? I've always wanted to go to Sinai, mainly to see St Katherine's monastery, but I think my future holidays will be limited to Europe and the USA.
