Russian airliner missing over Egypt

To be fair mocking the dead is a million miles from mocking religion, no religion should be immune to criticism. To mock or criticize Islam or any religion is completely okay and should be encouraged. If it has truly good ideals, it should be able to withstand the scrutiny.

RIP those who lost their lives.

Mocking anyone's beliefs is a pretty terrible personality trait regardless of the belief held.

Is there not a distinct difference between criticism of a religion and criticism of a persons beliefs? being that everyone interprets their religion, if they have one, in their own personal way.

"ideas, any ideas, even if they are sincerely held beliefs"

In answer to your question though, no.

Of course, feel free to criticise and ridicule myself ( and Rowan's) idea that criticising ideas and beliefs is ok. :p

In other news an airliner might have been blown out of the sky by a terrorist group, but we won't really know for ages, and until all the politicians have worked their magic.

I was thinking along the lines of criticism of mainstream/moderate religion Vs fundamentalist practitioners, in all religions, the beliefs do differ so the basic framework of the religion differs from the belief of the practitioner.

I think we are straying here. I was simply taking objection to Burnsy's comment

Indeed.

I think this whole situation needs to be tackled as speedily as possible in regard to what may have happened. For the peace of mind of the families and for Egypt, if it was ISIS thy are going about the right way of putting large holes in Egypt's ability to fight them in the long run. Affecting a major source of income for the government, putting people out of work who then may drift into terrorism or alienating the populous into accepting terrorism because of measures used to combat it.

Criticism isn't the same as mocking.

The whole Charlie Hebdo thing isn't mocking the dead, it's making a valid point of Russia's involvement in Syria and the subsequent fallout of it on it's own citizens.
