Russian airliner missing over Egypt

Am no expert but how could a can take a plane down?

If it was full of Semtex or C4 then yes but, how would you get it in the can without compromising the appearance ?

Not sure what to make of it all really, plus the picture shows a switch?

Who pressed it? How did they know they would be in the tail section?

Which happens to be one of the most weakest part of any aircraft.

If a lump a marzipan can get through security, am going to Wales next year.

cut the top off empty can fill with explosives solder the top of the can back on?

maybe a passenger? booked a specific seat?

or possibly concealed in the plane by some cleaner/other airport staff?

Which is a worrying trend - a concerning move several rungs up the ladder of sophistication if this and the Paris attacks are part of the same over-arching planning - obviously different cells but if there is a link between them at a higher level they definitely have a lot more planned than what we've seen so far.

they have ****ing tanks, artillery and surface to air missiles.

they captured bloody fully armed fighter jets.

having access to plastic explosives is not a surprise.

if the iraq army had it ISIS have it now.

they didn't capture fully armed fighter jets.... they can't take off.

They only have tanks the west lets them have, you see the satellite photos showing them in the papers right?

oh we can't find and bomb them like we did with iraq and gaddafi cos they need to use them against assad first

you don't need to be able to fly the plane to use its equipment....

you ransack a military base you're going to have a lot of various stable high explosives you can repurpose.

it will just mean russia will actually sit down with NATO

they have been talking about working closer since the paris bombings..this will just make it happen faster

pilots will be returned and nothing more will happen

china want in on it now...everybody has all these weapons that they never get to use, whereas the yanks have been testing all their new stuff for years in afghanistan and Iraq

now they have an enemy everybody in the world is happy for you to bomb them, so every country that wants to test stuff they have not used live before wants a bit of the action

Quality. Wonder if they were upset about the airspace violation or the targets they were on the way back from.

Russia has been playing silly games with Turkish Airspace for months, the Turkish military have repeatedly warned them and shot down a drone a few weeks back.

Whilst it probably wasn't a good idea to shoot down a manned fighter, if Turkey issued warnings that were ignored it was almost certainly legal to shoot it down under international law especially if it was an armed aircraft.

It's one of the risks you take if you start playing silly beggers in other peoples airspace.

Argh I didn't know that. Figured it was a new development flying through Turkish airspace.

Dont understand why a country such as Russia cant come to an agreement about using airspace in such situations.

Yep, they have had plently of warnings in the past, Turkey was well within its rights to shoot the aircraft down.

The Russians, according to reports, are claiming they were within Syria's airspace and not in Turkish airspace.

So maybe you guys claiming that Turkey was "within its rights" should actually wait before making your completely non-based matter of fact statements?

Considering how Russia have been pushing buttons and crossing air space of quite a few nations, I am inclined to side with the Turks for now.

Indeed because the Russians never lie about this kind of stuff :D
