Ryzen 3900X thread

One thing that is confusing, is Ryzen Master and AI Suite showing very different info. AI Suite is what is used to set fan curve based on temps, so not sure what is what. Ryzen Master shows a lower clock and temp than AI Suite..

AMD have stated that some monitoring applications can actually cause higher temps due to the way they poll the CPU - classic 'observer effect'. The continuous polling prevents the cores idling properly.

Ryzen Master doesn't have this problem, and apparently neither does CPU-Z.

Thanks that's useful to know. Sounds like I would be better setting the fan curve in the BIOS and not not running the AI Suite, or maybe just exiting the tool after it runs, not sure if needs to be in the background all the time?

Definitely more.

Tbh I've put mine back to stock it absolutely flies and takes the guesswork out of safe voltages etc

Same here using the stock cooler.

I just run stock CPU settings, tuned DDR4 3800Mhz CL16 and performance enhancer level 3 in the BIOS to enable highest possible non PBO clocks.

hi so i managed to get 4.35 @ 1.34 - is that ok push for more or undervolt? Thanks! - tried PBO but it put my voltages up to 1.65 :O hope this didnt damage my CPU

lmao sorry man it was supposed to be 4.375 - :( how is that - Reddit doesnt seem to offer much help just trolls suggesting i can do 5ghz at 1.1v..
Sounds about right i think. To be honest i have never bothered overclocking mine but based on other reports that sounds decent. Have you tried for 4.4?

think I might bite the bullet tomorrow and get this chip. I don't think I 'll use the full potential immediately, but as my last upgrade was 6 years ago, I think this might do the same. And itll it stretch its legs eventually.

Just need to conclude the mobo purchase. elite, pro, ultra or master.

The elite is a good board mate but doesn't do sli if that's of interest to you the pro does
