RYZEN 5000 SERIES NOW ONLINE - 5950X, 5900X, 5800X & 5600X COMING NOV 5TH AT 5PM **NO COMPETITORS**

In fact, the 5800X might even be better for you for gaming since there is just one ccx with all the cache on that, so no thread hopping over the infinity fabric. I imagine when independent benchmarks come out that games that require strong single core performance will fare better on the 5800x. Another benefit of this CPU is it will be similar to the ones on consoles, so future PC games will optimise to 8 core 16 threads rather than 12 or 16 cores.

Ive looked into the 3xxx series to try and learn how 5xxx will perform. And the 3900x and 3950x seems to be ahead of all the other 3xxx in games.

So whilst the 5900/50x may not be needed, or the best value for gaming. I think its still going to outperform the 5800x

Basically correct but... not by much and still giving the 10900K a fair rinsing.

The 5800X will be a strong chip still, the others are a little better.

The single CCX on the 5800X {that the 3800X didn't have} may still make it the better card if overclocking.
I'd be waiting for reviews if that's your deciding factor.

amd is binning chips ... you can be sure that 5950x and 5900x are getting the best ones

Probably, but the 5800X will still be awesome. :)

SiSoftware conclusions on Ryzen 7 5800X said:
Executive Summary: Zen3 is ~25-40% faster than Zen2 across all kinds of algorithms. No choice but give it 10/10 overall!

Despite no major architectural changes (except larger 8-core CCX layout and thus unified L3 cache) over Zen2 – Zen3 manages to be quite a bit faster across legacy and heavily vectorised SIMD algorithms, naturally also soundly beating the competition even with AVX512 and more cores (e.g. 10-core SKL-X). Even streaming algorithms (memory-bound) improve over 20%. We certainly did not expect performance to be this good.

Would the arctic freezer 34 duo be sufficient for cooling a 5800x or 5900x? Have a preference for air cooling; otherwise will look at the dark rock pro 4 or nh-d15.

why are we asking questions about something we cannot check?
I know we can speculate.. .but just wait till 5th

Nor was I, but the uplift is just too good to skip over.
Plus lots of my local friends are still rocking Intel... so time to reclaim the high ground in the pub. :D ;)
hehe .. I am rocking intel although I love what amd is doing.. I just like overclocking and high frequencies to much ..
if new ryzen cpu can beat my 8700k @5.4 with 4.8-4.9 (I assume this will be max for amd) i will gladly consider it... but i will be very surprised it will reach those frequencies... it will probably end somewhere close to 4.6-4.7

I think it'll beat it at all kinds of frequencies. These are fast chips.
