For those of you waiting on their X3D cpu. Don't do what I did and download the chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. Download direct from AMD. https://www.amd.com/en/support

Now I'm thinking I should do a clean install of Windows 11 and start over.

Or will overwriting with the latest drivers be ok?

@LtMatt here are my timings (XMP profile).

Thanks. :)

Just tried Spider-Man Remastered. Wow huge improvement over my previous 5800X.
Almost double the performance and much lower power consumption.

It’s mad isn’t it. I’m doubling in some games.

Could be my memory but feels a bigger uplift than 3090 to 4090. I think I basically wasn’t using my 4090

Shows don’t get the top gpu if you’re not changing cpu. Better to have a balanced system for 1440p and below. Mistake I make every gpu release!

I’d try a complete uninstall then reinstall. Rebuilding windows would be a ball ache.

I did some 7950X3D vs 7800X3D testing in Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) using the built in benchmark. The second CCD was disabled to simulate a 7800X3D.

1440P lowest settings but spot cache set to ultra. I ran each test twice so will include both results. I noticed that the average FPS dropped on the second run each time, I guess triggered by the GPU getting warmer and bouncing off the power limit more frequently.

7950X3D Both CCDs + SMT Enabled
First Run

7950X3D One CCD (simulated 7800X3D) + SMT Enabled

EDIT

And here's a 4090 run at the same res/settings with both CCDs enabled.

Just noticed that ASUS just release a new bios version too.. So bios flash and reinstall looks like a good call.

Is that still in BETA or full release now?

1408 is now full release.

I'm going to try 1410 to see how the memory performs.

1. Update AGESA version to ComboAM5PI 1.0.0.6
2. Supports high density DDR5 module
3. TPM 2.0 security update

At the moment i've just enabled core performance boost and expo ii. Getting 65 degrees max when gaming on the CPU package so feels like I have headroom.

On a 360 mm Corsair AIO.

I have the Strix E-F and 1101 is now full release. Just this second updated and plumbed my OC setting back in. Lets see if any changes :)

I've posted some suggestions in this thread for how to tune curve optimiser for 7950X3D, most of it will apply to 7800X3D too. Except the starting value for testing might be different.
Thanks - Should i just be looking to -21 on all cores as a start or do I need to manually mess with voltage too?
I'd try -15 as a starting point. Some cores may only accept a smaller number, some might accept -30 or higher. Takes time and effort optimising each one. Each individual core needs to be stable under a lightly threaded single core load and a all core load. If you find my previous posts about how to tune using curve optimiser, that should give you guidance on what to use and how to do it.
