Morning quite a few of us should be receiving our 7800x3d's today I'd be interested to hear what motherboards you're all going for? as that is the only part I'm currently still undecided on
For my 7800x3d I went for crosshair hero. Rest of the build as follows:

32gb dominator ram at 6000
4090 tuf oc
1200w psu
2 x 2tb nvme drives.
elite lcd xt cooler
X5000 icue case

Should see nice uplift from my 8 year old 5820k machine with 1080ti.

Got my 7800X3D but I won't be home for a couple of days. I already have new RAM and a new NVME drive. I still need to get a new motherboard: in the end I'm thinking of getting a Crosshair Hero. It's totally overkill but it should serve me well for a few years. I was thinking of going for an Aorus Master X670E, but I really like the ASUS bios (coming from an X470 Hero), so I guess I'm getting the Hero in the end.

Nice, I've also just upgrade from my 5820k to 7800x3d, although I'm still on my 1080 :/
Will be a few more months before I get a new GPU.

Ok I’m all set up, fresh copy of Windows 11 and I’m having some performance issues. I benchmarked Cyberpunk before I did the build and got an average of 77 fps with a 5800x with pathtracing and frame generation. Now with the 7800x3d with exactly the same settings I get 73 fps average. Even the low frames are better on the 5800x… Anyone any ideas of what I’m doing wrong? GPU is at 99% but I’d thought I’d see some improvement… maybe I changed some NV control panel settings a while back but I can’t remember.

Res is 3440x1440
Gpu: 4080

One time I used the Cyberpunk benchmark and got two different results and didn't realise until later that DLSS was on Auto the first time and on Quality the second. Or maybe some of your other settings are slightly different in the game.

Another option is that your GPU was overclocked before reinstalling Windows and now it's running stock.

Well this is disappointing.
I've just had notification that my order is shipping (from a competitor). The reason it's disappointing is that I think it'll contain the 7950X3D when I asked to swap it for the 7800X3D.

I double checked settings were the same as I took a picture of the settings screen. I must have had a slight GPU overclock previously via MSI afterburner and it's just completely GPU bottlenecked.

Yup, got mine too :). A bit uncomfortable letting my neighbour take this. Would have preferred to start with a pair of socks or summat.

And still somewhat conflicted if this was the right choice, as the 7900 would probably be better suited for my PDX games. Has less cache per cores, but much higher clock speed. In the end, the two CCD thing put me off. Didn't really help everyone review bombing it either.

Motherboard, went with the B650 Aorus Elite. Got it in March though, so will have to do a bios update as the update for optimising 3D chips also came out in March. Wondering if that's more for the scheduling, though.

Just got my 7800X3D delivered today, gonna have fun building over the weekend. :D

I'm too anxious to find it fun. If I knew all the components were tip-top, and it was all guaranteed to work, it'd be a blast.

Ah I think everything is fine actually, just ran FS2020 and the framerate and smoothness is incredible.

I have my 7800x3D all set up. I’ve ran cinebench and hit a package temp of 83 degrees. Does that sound about right?

Also do x3D CPU’s respond well to PBO settings like eco mode?

What cooler are you running? Apparently x3d chips will go at 85C all day long so nothing too much to worry about.

I’m using the Noctua NH-U12A Chromax Black. I’m mainly asking because it’s about 10 degrees warmer than my Ryzen 7600 was in the same system.

have my 7800x3d on a b650e-e asus board but infinity fabric seems locked at 2k , i assume this is wrong as running 6k Ram speeds so should be expecting 3k ? On the latest non beta bios if that helps :/

I got my 7800x3d yesterday and managed to assemble it during work when things were calm (Yes WFH!). I upgraded from a 5950x.
I turned on EXPO I and put an all core curve optimizer at -30, and all cores can reach 5050Mhz, not at the same time though.

I only tested with Cyperpunk benchmark, and while it's not apples to apples as Cyberpunk was updated between my runs, making the settings the same I got this compared to my 5950x with a 4090:
+8 fps average;
+18fps minimum (huge improvements here);
+7 fps maximum;

Keep in mind that this was in 4k with ray tracing psycho, without framegen and DLSS Quality.

Unfortunately I didn't take photos/screenshots with path tracing before I changed cpu, but in the new run I got minimum fps at 58 with DLSS quality and framegen, which is very much playable. Before, I thought DLSS balance was required because the dip with 5950x was bigger.

Based on these results alone, I'm very happy with the purchase :)
