Having gone through all of the reviews its not really. Some games as expected like the cache, some not. In the techpowerup review it's a couple of percent at 1080p in it's favour and a fraction slower at 4k. Kind of a wash really.
That's the impression I got, and what I expected.

It's not a lot better than the 13900k, but the thing is, it shows you what a 7800x 3d can do.. It will wipe the i5's out of existence in gaming with less power draw.. So sure, arguably, maybe a 13900k or a 13900ks with tapped out m max memory might end up being faster, but the lower end intel parts will be basically dead in 2 months that the 7800x3d gets released.
Yeah I get that, but I get the impression people seem to think the intel is trash by comparison? (when looking at the 7950x3d and 13900k/ks

but if you were building new system today , think sensible to go with the AMD offering and dont forget it uses less power and zen5/x3d still to come on the platform

I wanna see side by side and how much power each is using

The 13900k is still faster in some games, and it’s cheaper.

Anything with a lot of things happening at once, lots of NPCs or objects moving around can benefit from a decent CPU. Cyberpunk was referenced earlier, in certain places it will max out a CPU. GTA is another that can push a CPU hard, more so when 6 comes. Civilization, Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed etc. are others that need a decent CPU.

Decent CPU? Define decent in such cases? I mean the Intel 12400 is a decent or better CPU. 6 core CPUs are decent or even pretty good. I mean are you referring to decent being really high end and more than 8 strong cores?

Its hard to imagine any case where more than 8 cores has any meaningful benefit to really almost any game right now.

Indeed the only thing I would think for myself is wanting to buy new shiny things anyway in the form of a new motherboard Zen 5. Will there be any new features, faster memory support, that kind of thing unless it is all possible through the x670e with bios updates.

It’s a bit silly to be honest. I know they have to test CPUs by going cpu bound but it’s misleading. For example using a 4090 at 1080p is crazy. No one would buy a 4090 for 1080p as cheaper options give you as good results.

This Linux benchmark from Phoronix is interesting. Less than 50% power usage and higher frames in Cyberpunk ( source https://www.phoronix.com/review/amd-ryzen9-7950x3d-linux/3 ). This is linux with a 7900xtx so might be different on Windows but very interesting nonetheless.
