I don't practice what I preach but I think if you are struggling to justify it then it's a clear sign you don't need (but may want). Perhaps stick with what you got and let's see what the next ones are like if they stick with AM5.

Yeah good advice mate. To be honest I game at 4k on a 120fps screen and with a controller so more than likely I wouldn't notice much if any of a difference. More just the idea of having a 6 core than the actual performance which I feel is excellent. Interestingly on Tech Power Ups 7600x 4k results I was getting an extra 10fps+ than what they were saying they got on a 7600x, so possibly drivers have improved since they originally tested it last year, closing the gap even more.
I mean I'm still going to be spending likely 500 on a NV7 case and 12 D30 fans so it's not like I'm not investing lol.

It scores differently with a 4090 vs 7900xtx on the cpu front. Mine is quite low in the mid 300's since it's 13600k. It's one the best benches for x3d in general.

Yes if you look at my results in the SOTTR bench thread the 4090 is in the 430 range. Nvidia's driver overhead holds it back a bit or it would be higher like with the XTX runs.

Power consumption is amazing. I think in terms of performance it is what I predicted, neither side are too far ahead. I would be lying if I said I didn’t have doubts about how this 3d and non 3d/gamebar way of doing things will play out (and yes I’ve seen the videos explaining it) but it’s just early days.
Or in other words, Alder Lake and Raptor Lake are at a P4 level of inefficiency!

It’s the one thing they really need to tackle. They simply can’t compete.
While gamers mostly don't care, for their (formerly) super lucrative server market, perf/watt is or should be king.
Intel are lucky that so many server buyers are going by the mantra of "nobody ever got fired for buying
The really big cloud customers (Amazon, Google, Alibaba) are deploying more and more custom ARM chips only using x86 were they have no choice. A perfect nightmare for Intel and yet Intel won't scrap shareholders dividends!

I can personally vouch for either one of these DIMM modules as working well with AM5 CPUs including VCache.
