Why hasnt LVG been sacked yet..

Looks like yesterday's performance bought him some time.

Personally I'm not convinced that anyone available would be better in the long run for the club - Mourinho would being short term success but I don't trust him as far as I can throw him, Pep is probably off to City/Chelsea but I also think his style is too similar to LVG's.

I'd have happily binned him for Carlo but that door is shut, also Klopp is one I'd take in a heartbeat but he's busy trying to polish turds. :p

We're resigned to mediocrity because Woodward hasn't got the bottle to sack 'his man' LvG.

I'm genuinely shocked people were satisfied with that performance against Chelsea, who just sat back and were awful throughout. Just shows how far we've fallen. And now people don't want Mourinho for silly reasons, when he'll sort us out over a couple of seasons, something LvG has failed at.

But m8, we had 8 shots in the first half, most we've had all season. Wot more do u want bruv? Proper attackin football that is

Like the Utd of 98/99

I don't think I'm at the point where I don't want Mourinho, I'm just not excited at the prospect of getting him.

Compared to most of the rest of the season and our general entertainment factor, yesterday was great. We usually come up against a side like Chelsea and play against 10 men behind the ball all game, don't create anything and then get hit on the break for a few goals. We were quite good compared to normal yesterday. Yes, normal is utterly crap at the moment but small victories and all that.

LvG isn't getting sacked and I don't know why people still think he will. If he hasn't gone by now he is here until the end of the season. Ultimately I think we are now simply a club that will milk our global fanbase and commercial interests until the cow is dry. We clearly aren't making the football even a secondary priority or LvG would be gone and a new manager already appointed.

Yesterdays game was the first I have not wanted to slit my wrists during for quite a while. We should have won the game but we were a bit unlucky. Earlier in the season we would have won that because we had that little bit of luck that turned our crap performances into narrow wins. Dull games but we were sneaking wins.

People were grumbling from quite early in this season and I said that we were scraping games and were not far away from going the other way but people just said "look at the league position and the results". Well now we don't have good football, ok results or league position to fall back on but the board doesn't care. LvG will either go at the end of the season or perhaps when we simply can't get top 4 statistically.

This .

The only thing that might be making the board think is that after the Swansea game there is a little bit of a break until the next EPL fixture , 10 days (admittedly with an FAC game inbetween, but that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things). If the performance isn't there on Sat (remember in a game LvG /the team got beaten in last season) then that time may allow something to happen.

Especially if other league results go against Utd, by then we could be right in the mid table pack by then.

Exactly

As I said at the time, yesterday's game was actually quite entertaining. United players actually looked like they were trying to attack rather than trying to bore the other team to death which has been the case for most of this season.

I think its unfair to make comparisons to SAF's team of the past because of all the money coming in to the EPL since he left, there are a lot more teams that can take points off the big boys and so tactics /formations etc have HAD to change so comparing to the treble winning team of '99 or whatever is ridiculous.

Admittedly the run of four or five games last season where we totally ripped teams apart (including Liverpool away :D) which was on a completely different level again, but yesterday was an improvement over majority of this season (apart from Everton @GP earlier this season, but that's the only game that sticks out really).

Up until Nov21 (the start of this bad run), I actually think we deserved the majority of the results we got - it might be about fine margins whether it was offside or not (there were even a few yesterday which were hauled back incorrectly) , goals being scored instead of hitting the post or whatever but for quite a few games recently the team itself just looked uninterested and all the sideways /backwards passing but was also at a slow tempo which allowed opposing teams to organise better - where they didn't have the time before.......which is down to confidence (and LvG not allowing flair to come to the fore).

I think part of our earlier season success was that teams weren't up to speed or as well prepared for us. Teams have our number now and know how to play against us. Since LvG took over we have almost been better against the better teams because they don't just sit back and counter.

Could be worse...

Turkish top-flight side Genclerbirligi are on the lookout for their sixth coach of the season after they sacked their latest manager just one game into his reign.

Yilmaz Vural was at the helm for just six days and oversaw one match - a 2-0 loss away from home - before being shown the door by club president Ilhan Cavcav.

Cavcav is renowned for changing his managers, having worked his way through 51 different coaches since 1981.
